Designer Tom Marchitelli recently shared insights from his collaboration with Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen on three of the four wedding outfits worn during the athlete’s marriage to actress Hailee Steinfeld. The couple tied the knot in an intimate ceremony on 31 May 2025, celebrating their first anniversary with a release of previously unseen photographs from their special day.

The bespoke looks created by Marchitelli were aimed at reflecting both elegance and personality. One standout outfit was an ivory dinner jacket, crafted with satin lapels and a gauntlet cuff. The designer noted that the inspiration for this particular piece was drawn from the glamorous aesthetics of a 1960s James Bond film. With the wedding just two weeks away, Marchitelli faced a tight deadline as Allen requested the suits on a “five-day turnaround.”

In a charming twist, Marchitelli included a unique, personalised detail in all of the suits. Each jacket features a label stitched into the interior that reads “Custom design for Josh Allen.” This distinctive touch showcases the designer’s commitment to making each garment special for the client. “When you open up the right-hand side of the jacket, there’s a label there, embroidered in there,” he explained, highlighting the personal touch that enhances the significance of the garments.

In addition to the elegant ivory jacket, Marchitelli designed two more outfits for the wedding festivities. One was a beige suit worn at the welcome party, while the other, which has not yet been revealed publicly, was a navy suit. Both ensembles contained hidden details representing Allen’s NFL career, one of which included his jersey number 17 embroidered into the fabric. “The navy with the burgundy stripe… and the beige suit had number 17 embroidered on the opposite side of his name,” Marchitelli noted.
The collaboration between Allen and Marchitelli was notably interactive. The designer recalled, “He had a list, boom, boom, boom — and he had photos too. This was collaborative. He had visions.” They exchanged ideas on various aspects of the designs, including fabric choices and detailing. For one jacket, Marchitelli was taken aback when Allen suggested incorporating leather sleeves, a request he readily accepted.
While Allen’s wedding ceremony tuxedo was designed by Tom Ford, Marchitelli expressed gratitude for being entrusted with three of the key looks on such a significant occasion in Allen’s life. With a portfolio that includes some of the biggest names in sports, such as Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow and three-time Super Bowl winner Travis Kelce, Marchitelli is well-versed in crafting custom attire for professional athletes.
Interestingly, although Marchitelli primarily worked on Allen’s outfits, Hailee Steinfeld was present during one of the fittings. “She sat in for maybe half of the appointment and had some input,” he said, describing the actress as very gracious. Ultimately, though she allowed the design process to unfold freely, one could sense her supportive presence.
Reflecting on Allen’s journey beyond the wedding, Marchitelli noted that the football star had recently welcomed his first child with Steinfeld. “He’s madly in love,” the designer remarked, indicating that Allen is embracing both his personal and professional milestones with enthusiasm.
In summary, Tom Marchitelli’s designs for Josh Allen’s wedding outfits stand as a testament to both style and personal touches that define the quarterback’s life and career. As the couple continues to celebrate their union, these fashionable looks will undoubtedly remain a cherished part of their story.
