In a heartfelt ceremony on May 23, 2023, professional football player Bradley Chubb and attorney Lady Mendez exchanged vows in Boca Raton, Florida. The couple chose a “garden romance” theme for their wedding, which took place in front of 150 guests, many of whom were fellow professional athletes.

The festivities kicked off the day before, with a beach-inspired welcome reception at the Beach Club. Guests enjoyed a vibrant atmosphere complete with coconut drinks, a gelato cart, and entertainment from fire dancers and cigar rollers on the Surfside Lawn. This set the tone for a weekend filled with love and celebration.
The wedding ceremony was held in a hidden garden at Cloister, bathed in sunlight. Mendez, escorted by her father, glided down an aisle lined with white flowers while the classic tune “Can’t Help Falling in Love” played in the background. She wore a stunning Monique Lhuillier gown, accented with a mantilla veil, and carried a bouquet composed of white anthuriums, calla lilies, and baby’s breath. Chubb made his entrance to John Legend’s touching ballad, “All of Me.”

As they exchanged personalised vows atop an elevated platform adorned with a backdrop of white roses and olive drapery, both Chubb and Mendez were filled with emotion. The couple had earlier shared private vows, preserving their intimate moment on video to cherish for years to come. The ceremony was officiated by Reverend Paul Thibodeaux, a long-time family friend of Chubb.
One of the highlights of the ceremony came when the pair stopped mid-aisle for a romantic dip kiss as they made their way back to their guests, a moment that Mendez described as being among her most cherished memories of the day.
Cocktail hour featured a selection of light bites, including a captivating seafood station with delicacies such as chilled jumbo shrimp and ceviche shooters. The pair also offered a fun twist on traditional escort cards, using a fountain filled with greenery and paper roses bearing guests’ names to guide them to their tables.
The reception showcased a European-inspired decor with a soft colour palette of sage, blush, and creamy tones, creating a romantic ambience. In their first dance as a married couple, Chubb and Mendez swayed to the timeless classic “At Last” by Etta James. Guests were treated to a sumptuous multi-course dinner, which included options of filet mignon, organic wild salmon, and eggplant stuffed with quinoa and vegetables, culminating in a lavish dessert display featuring a four-tiered wedding cake and an array of mini desserts.
Recognising Mendez’s Dominican heritage, the couple incorporated a live band that played songs in both English and Spanish, ensuring that their celebration reflected their unique backgrounds. The music continued into the after-party, which was transformed into “Club Chubb”, complete with stunning ocean views and vibrant energy.
Mendez dazzled in not one, but two stunning dresses throughout the evening. For the reception, she donned a glamorous fitted halter-neck gown from Berta, while she later changed into a floral beaded minidress with fringe for the after-party.
The couple’s love story began six years ago in New York, and it was Chubb’s creative proposal on April 25, 2022, that has since solidified their bond. The proposal featured a surprise drone show that narrated their shared journey and ended with the question, “Will you marry me?”
For both newlyweds, marriage signifies a lifelong partnership built on love and support. They expressed excitement about travelling the world together and starting a family in the future, marking the beginning of a new chapter in their lives.
The wedding was managed by a talented team, including Rafanelli Events, videographer Alex Martinez Films, and Boca by Design, among others, ensuring that every detail of their special day was thoughtfully curated.
