Nita Strauss, renowned guitarist for rock legend Alice Cooper, has officially embraced motherhood after welcoming her first child, a son named Maxwell James Villalta. The musician and her husband, Josh Villalta, announced the birth on Thursday, May 28, at 8:00 p.m. local time. Maxwell arrived weighing 7 lbs and 6 oz and measuring 20 inches in length.

Reflecting on the experience, Strauss expressed her joy, declaring that despite the exhaustion that accompanies new parenthood, these early days are incredibly rewarding. “We’re in the full-on newborn trenches: exhausted, running on fumes and figuring new parenthood out as we go,” she remarked. “Even after only a few days of motherhood, it’s already the best thing I’ve ever done.”

The couple, who married in 2024, chose their son’s name with intention. “Whatever he does in his life, we hope he does it to the max!” Josh shared, highlighting the significance behind their son’s name. The middle name, James, pays tribute to Strauss’s father, a fellow musician.
Incorporating music into their family’s early memories, Josh noted that the couple had a special song in mind during the lead-up to Maxwell’s arrival. They listened to Metallica’s “Nothing Else Matters,” which resonated deeply for them in that moment. “Nothing else mattered except the love we shared and the new life we were about to welcome,” he explained.
Once they brought Maxwell home, the couple revisited a song that holds sentimental value—Extreme’s “More Than Words,” the same track that accompanied their first dance at their wedding. For Josh, playing this song with their newborn symbolised a new chapter in their lives. “That song has always held a special place in our hearts and now it has even more meaning,” he expressed.
Josh vividly described the day leading up to their son’s birth as “magical,” a time when “all felt like a dream.” He stayed by Nita’s side throughout the labour, praising her mental strength during the challenging process. “Nothing can compare to the moment you see the child you created with the person you love most,” he added, reflecting on the overwhelming emotions that followed.
For Nita, the birth of Maxwell was an intensely primal experience. She expressed, “I’ve always heard people say ‘You don’t know true love until they put your baby on your chest for the first time,’ but I never fully understood it until it happened to me.” In a moment that felt transformative, she stated that it seemed as if the entire world faded away as they welcomed their son.
Surrounded by her husband and mother during the delivery, Strauss felt enveloped in love, despite the challenges of childbirth. After meeting her son, she described the experience as witnessing her heart exist outside her body. “I’m excited for every phase of this new chapter,” she shared, envisioning a future where she and Maxwell navigate life together on tour.
As first-time parents, both Nita and Josh are eager to witness their son grow. Josh remarked on how special Maxwell is, stating, “We truly believe he’s destined for greatness.” He has hopes that their son will embody elements of both of them, promising a bright future ahead.
With so many milestones ahead, Josh noted the bittersweet nature of parenting. “We can’t wait to watch him grow into the man he’s meant to become,” he said. However, they also wish to savour every fleeting moment along the way, acknowledging the swift pace at which children grow.
As the couple adjusts to their new roles, they remain committed to cherishing these early days and the love that their baby son brings into their lives. With the anticipation of future experiences and adventures, it is clear that Nita Strauss and Josh Villalta are excited about this new chapter filled with both challenges and joys.
