Grandmother Locked 5 Kids in Restroom with Pit Bull Outside After They Got Into an Argument with Her Granddaughter: Police

In an alarming incident at a Florida park, a grandmother has been accused of false imprisonment after allegedly confining five children in a public restroom. The event unfolded on May 25 at Ralph Carter Park in Palm Coast, where tensions escalated between the grandmother’s teenage granddaughter and other youths.

The trouble began earlier that day when the 13-year-old reportedly attempted to provoke another child into a fight, leading to a brief scuffle. Allegations indicate that she pulled the hair of one child during this altercation. After the initial conflict, the granddaughter is said to have contacted several teenagers through phone calls and social media, demanding they confront her again.

The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office intervened after responding to a call regarding the exchanges that reportedly escalated into threats of violence. Deputies initially assessed the situation as a verbal dispute and left the scene. However, the granddaughter’s threats persisted into the early hours of May 25, during which she allegedly made chilling remarks about killing two of the targeted teens.

By afternoon, a group consisting of both adults and juveniles, including the granddaughter, converged on the park. Reports indicate that the granddaughter issued further threats and claimed that a pit bull would accompany them. The group then approached the park where the five young victims were present.

In an attempt to evade confrontation, the children sought refuge in a public restroom, locking the door behind them. According to police reports, the grandmother, Allyson Pease-Frankel, aged 64, allegedly took possession of the pit bull and approached the restroom, applying significant force against the door. Eyewitness accounts suggest that she attempted to force the door open, while the granddaughter kicked it repeatedly, effectively trapping the frightened children inside.

The victims called for assistance as they remained locked in the restroom for several minutes, until the group eventually departed the area. Meanwhile, the granddaughter reportedly seized belongings left behind on a picnic table, including a cellphone and clothing items, which she later discarded in a nearby retention pond.

Following further investigation, detectives were able to determine the value of the stolen cellphone, resulting in the granddaughter’s arrest on charges of felony grand theft. In a subsequent development, police issued an arrest warrant for Pease-Frankel, leading to her detainment on charges of false imprisonment.

Commenting on the situation, Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly highlighted the importance of parental supervision during school holidays. “Summer break is in full swing, and children have plenty of time on their hands,” he stated in a press release. He urged parents and guardians to engage with their children about good decision-making and the potential consequences of their actions.

Following her arrest, Pease-Frankel was released on a $5,000 bond. In contrast, her granddaughter was processed and transferred to the Department of Juvenile Justice, where she faces serious charges, including written threats to kill and grand theft.
