An 18-year-old from Wildwood, Mississippi, has recounted a harrowing experience that unfolded on 26th April, which turned a trip home to collect a prom dress into a life-saving mission for her beloved dog, Haavi. Willow Weiss received notification that her highly anticipated prom dress had arrived and couldn’t wait to try it on. Little did she know that her decisions that day would have critical consequences for her pet’s life.

After leaving her friend’s house in excitement, Weiss arrived home to find her two Great Danes and a black Russian terrier welcoming her. It became apparent that, were it not for Weiss’ impulse to return home for her dress, Haavi may not have survived the ordeal, as the blood loss was severe. “If my prom dress hadn’t been delivered that afternoon, I would have stayed at my friend’s house. My parents weren’t due home until much later, and the vet said he likely wouldn’t have made it,” Weiss reflected gratefully.
The emotional toll on the Weiss family has been profound, but there was a flicker of joy as the prom approached.
