Jasmine Roth, the well-known HGTV host and mother of two, recently opened up about a distressing incident involving her youngest daughter, Darla. The 21-month-old required seven stitches after a fall at their home, leading to a visit to the emergency room. Roth, who is also expecting her third child, took to Instagram Stories to share her family’s experience, highlighting the emotional challenges of parenting during such difficult moments.

In her posts, Roth recounted how Darla fell off the couch and struck her head on a coffee table, resulting in a significant indentation above her eyebrow. “Today was a rough one. Darla had her first ER visit, and it was a LOT,” the 41-year-old said. In a moment of panic, Roth found herself alone at home with both her daughters when the accident occurred, prompting an urgent rush to the hospital. Her husband Brett joined them at the ER, where Darla was treated for her injuries.

Describing her daughter as a “trooper,” Roth expressed immense relief that Darla was ultimately alright after receiving medical attention. “It took seven stitches to close her up,” she informed her followers, adding a light-hearted note about temporarily storing their coffee table until the children are much older.
Roth’s heartfelt appreciation extended to the staff at their local hospital, who provided care during the traumatic incident. “A huge thank you to our local hospital for getting her put back together again,” Roth wrote. She proceeded to share a graphic image of Darla’s injury, noting, “I’ve never seen anything like this. I was so scared for her.” The emotional toll was evident as she described her older daughter Hazel reacting with fear and worry while they navigated the emergency.
In the wake of the incident, Roth took a moment to reflect on the pressures of parenting, emphasising that perfection is unattainable. She reassured fellow parents that challenges are a part of the journey. “Just a reminder that being a parent isn’t about all the pressure we put on ourselves to make everything perfect. It’s about keeping them safe and being there for them when something goes wrong,” she explained.
Roth further noted the quick recovery of her daughter, stating, “It was a traumatic day but once the sedation wore off it was almost like it didn’t happen for her.” She expressed gratitude for the outcome, thanking her followers for their support and sending thoughts to those facing their own parental challenges: “Sending love to all the parents who are having tough times right now. You aren’t alone.”
As if the day hadn’t been overwhelming enough, Roth also revealed her concerns regarding her unborn child. Just moments before Darla’s accident, she had been attempting to listen to the baby’s heartbeat using her smartphone and earbuds. “I knew I was probably too early so wasn’t super concerned when I couldn’t find a heartbeat,” she noted.
However, after the emergency incident with Darla, Roth sought additional reassurance about her own pregnancy. “After Darla was all stitched up, I mentioned it to the doctor,” she shared. “They weren’t able to find it either, which again wasn’t a major cause for concern.” Nevertheless, feeling the need for confirmation, Roth decided to visit the OB Emergency in Salt Lake City.
Fortunately, the medical staff was able to locate the baby’s heartbeat promptly and even conducted a quick ultrasound. Roth described the sight of her little one “doing gymnastics” inside her, contrasting the stress of the day’s events with the joy of witnessing her growing family. “I couldn’t feel a thing,” she remarked, using a touch of humour to lighten the whirlwind of emotions she had experienced that day.
Through these trials, Roth has not only shared a moment of vulnerability but has also reminded many parents that they are not in it alone. The community of support among fellow parents can play a crucial role in navigating the challenges of raising children. With her family’s heartwarming story of recovery and resilience, Roth continues to inspire many while preparing for the arrival of her third child.
