A bride-to-be nearly faced a wedding disaster when a front tooth veneer fell off just days before her long-awaited ceremony. Katrina Kelly, 32, and her fiancé, John Grevine, had invested over two years in planning their destination wedding in Malta when the incident occurred on May 10.

Reflecting on the lead-up to the mishap, Kelly expressed her confidence in managing the wedding preparations. “We’ve been engaged for two-and-a-half years, so we’ve been planning it for ages,” she remarked, adding that she had been boasting to friends about how organised she was. “I was saying, ‘It’s so easy, what can go wrong now?’” she remembered, oblivious to the impending crisis.

The fateful moment unfolded while Kelly was enjoying a slice of extra crispy salami and calabrese pizza, cooked by her fiancé. “I bit into the pizza, and I just felt it and knew straight away what had happened,” she recounted. The veneer, which she had received twelve years prior following an accident involving a door, unexpectedly fell out, sending Kelly into a panic. “It was one of those moments where I thought, ‘Please turn back time,’” she lamented.
Caught in disbelief, she hesitated to remove the pizza from her mouth as the reality of the situation sunk in. “It was awful. I was just in denial,” she explained. Kelly immediately attempted to reattach the veneer herself but, realising her efforts were futile, sought an emergency dental appointment.
The timing could not have been more stressful for the couple, who had already invested a substantial amount into the wedding. “Our wedding is in a week, and we’ve spent an absolute fortune, so I don’t want to be spending money I don’t have right now,” Kelly stated. With over 230 guests expected to attend, including 130 flying to Malta, the stakes felt particularly high.
Fortunately, Kelly’s emergency dental visit proved successful. Dentists were able to effectively reattach the veneer for approximately £60. “They managed to glue the veneer back on, and I have my teeth back. It went great,” she shared with relief, noting that timing could have been worse. “It’s not exactly what you need the week before, but at least it wasn’t on the morning of,” Kelly added.
As the ordeal subsided, Kelly allowed herself to refocus on the joyous occasion ahead. With her wedding set for May 23, she expressed her excitement. “It’s my dream wedding. I couldn’t be any more excited,” she enthused. “We’ve been on cloud nine for the past two-and-a-half years looking forward to it.”
In the end, what could have been a significant setback transformed into a tale of resilience, with Kelly able to move past her dental trauma. As the wedding day approached, the anticipation surged, with the couple ready to celebrate their love surrounded by family and friends. Despite the hiccup, it appears that nothing will diminish the happiness they have cultivated in the lead-up to this milestone in their lives.
