The incident unfolded on March 5 along Highway 18, near Dickens, just 23 minutes into her shift. Ring, a dispatcher with 26 years of service, was quick to respond to a critical call from a man whose girlfriend was in imminent labour.

At that moment, the couple was unsure if they could make it to a nearby hospital, a fact that heightened the urgency of the situation. “They didn’t think they were going to make it to the hospital,” Ring recounted, reflecting on the intensity of the call. Drawing on her extensive training and experience, she provided calm and practical instructions to help facilitate the delivery under challenging circumstances.

Ring’s composure during the emergency was notable. She explained, “I have been doing it for a long time. I definitely have taken a lot of high-priority calls.
