In a poignant testament to love and resilience, Kelli Peters and Robbie Fox, both 27, celebrated their union in a hospital ceremony just ten days before Fox succumbed to a devastating battle with Ewing Sarcoma. The couple exchanged vows on April 15 at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, precisely eight years after they first crossed paths as students at Elon University.

The story of their love began in college, where they met during their freshman year. Their relationship flourished over the years, from navigating the highs of student life to enduring the challenges posed by Fox’s cancer diagnosis. His journey with Ewing Sarcoma, an aggressive cancer that typically affects bones and soft tissue, commenced after a hip injury sustained in a biking accident in 2024.

Following the diagnosis, Fox undertook an extensive treatment regimen that included around 40 rounds of radiation and 14 rounds of chemotherapy, along with numerous blood transfusions. In February 2025, he achieved a temporary remission, prompting an emotional engagement the following month. However, the couple’s hopes for a bright future were dashed in November when the cancer returned, more aggressive than before.
As Fox’s condition deteriorated and pain intensified, the family made the heart-wrenching decision to transition him into hospice care. Peters, unwavering in her commitment and love, recounted a touching moment between them: “He was just like, ‘If you want to, you can leave me. You don’t have to go on this journey with me.’ And I was like, ‘No. I’m not going to let you do this alone. I love you too much,’” she shared, her words filled with profound emotion.
In a bid to hold on to their love story, Peters proposed the idea of a wedding during one of their many hospital visits. “I think we should get married,” she told Fox, coaxing a joyful response from him. The idea blossomed into a heartfelt ceremony as the couple prioritised creating lasting memories together in Fox’s final days.
On the day of their wedding, Peters and Fox exchanged heartfelt vows, holding hands tightly and sharing traditional commitments in the intimate setting of the hospital room. The ceremony, witnessed by close family and friends and overseen by the city’s registrar, was beautifully captured and later shared by Peters on TikTok. She expressed that the sole aim of the wedding was to bring happiness to Fox, adding, “It made him the happiest, and that’s all I cared about.”
Tragically, their brief marital bliss was short-lived. Fox passed away just ten days later, on April 25, leaving Peters to reflect on a relationship characterised by love, determination, and a deep connection. As she mourns the loss of her husband, she expresses tremendous gratitude for their time together. “I believe I was put on this Earth to care for him and love him, and in return, he gave me a love that was so pure and special, and made both of us feel whole,” Peters stated, affirming the significance of their bond.
Despite the heart-wrenching circumstances, the story of Peters and Fox serves as a powerful reminder of enduring love in the face of hardship. Their journey exemplifies not only the strength found in companionship but also a commitment that transcends life itself. As Peters carries the memory of Fox in her heart, she stands resolute in celebrating a love that, although painfully short, was undeniably profound.
