Joy Behar, a prominent co-host of the popular daytime talk show The View, has announced that she will take a temporary break from the series to travel to Europe. Behar will be presenting her stage play, My First Ex-Husband, in Paris and London following a successful run in New York City.

During an episode of The View’s Behind the Table podcast on 26 May, Behar revealed her plans to leave the show for several episodes. The 83-year-old comedian shared that she is excited to debut her work to international audiences, starting with a week in Paris before she embarks on the Eurostar to continue the production’s run at London’s Boulevard Theatre in the West End.
“I fly to Paris this week, and then I go take the Chunnel to London after a week,” Behar explained. She expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration with her fellow cast member, Jackie Hoffman, saying, “We have Jackie Hoffman and I [playing] the two American women talking, then we have two British actresses. Doesn’t that sound like fun?”

During Behar’s hiatus, The View will welcome several guest presenters to fill her role at the table. Executive producer Brian Teta announced that Sheryl Underwood is set to co-host for two days while Behar is away. In addition, noted journalist Kara Swisher and political commentator Ana Navarro are also expected to join the discussions during this interim period.
Interestingly, Teta added a twist to the regular hosting schedule by suggesting that Whoopi Goldberg will appear on Fridays—something that may come as a surprise to her. “I don’t think she knows yet, but I’ll let her know that she’s going to be here,” he quipped, indicating a light-hearted atmosphere amidst changes in the lineup.
Behar’s upcoming absence follows a period during which The View has experienced various co-host changes. Earlier this year, Ana Navarro stepped in for Behar multiple times after Whoopi Goldberg mentioned that Behar was not feeling well. Additionally, Behar missed several episodes in November 2025 due to an unfortunate foot injury.
Reflecting on that incident, Behar recounted how she broke her toe after accidentally dropping her iPad on her foot. “Here’s what happened: I dropped my iPad on my foot and I broke my toe,” she explained to viewers, describing the pain she endured.
A central figure in The View’s legacy, Behar has been associated with the show since its inception in 1997. Although she initially departed the series in 2013, she made a return two years later and has remained a steadfast co-host ever since, earning her place as a beloved personality in daytime television.
As she prepares for her European engagement, fans of Behar and The View can expect her return soon. Meanwhile, the guest hosts are poised to keep audiences entertained during her absence, contributing to the dynamic conversation that The View is known for. People have been encouraged to stay updated with the show’s developments and anticipate the return of Behar, a staple of the programme’s fabric.
