Authorities are on the lookout for a Pennsylvania woman accused of defrauding well-meaning individuals out of nearly £12,000 in a fraudulent cancer treatment scheme. Vanessa O’Rourke, 37, formerly of Harleysville, Pennsylvania, is believed to be evading arrest in Queensland, Australia. A federal warrant for her arrest was issued on 3 May 2018, following her indictment on 15 counts of wire fraud by the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
According to FBI reports, O’Rourke allegedly fabricated a diagnosis of terminal glioblastoma, a highly aggressive form of brain cancer.
