In a candid conversation with host Amanda Hirsch, Bright revealed that she was just 18 when filming began. Fans have expressed surprise at the nearly decade-long age gap between her and Cameli, but Bright appeared unfazed by the reactions. “It’s very funny when they say that,” she noted, emphasising the comfort and professionalism she feels in her role. “I came into this job with more than enough information and understanding of what this role required,” she added, indicating her commitment to the character of Hannah.

“Off Campus” is inspired by the popular novels by Elle Kennedy, centring around the experiences of college students at the fictional Briar University, particularly focusing on an elite ice hockey team. Bright portrays Hannah, a music student who enters a deceptive dating arrangement with hockey player Garrett, played by Cameli, in the hopes of attracting her true crush. As the plot unfolds, the two characters find themselves developing genuine feelings for each other, which complicates their initial scheme.
Bright addressed audiences’ apprehension regarding the racy content of the show. She acknowledged that while the material can be provocative, her character’s interactions were always framed within a relatable context. “I get people’s concern, but also not once did I feel left out from being younger than everybody,” she said, highlighting the familial atmosphere on set and the support of her castmates.
Discussing the nature of the intimate scenes, Bright noted that her portrayal of Hannah includes partial nudity, while another character, Allie, played by Mika Abdalla, involves full nudity. According to Bright, all actors were aware of what to expect from their roles before filming began. “We all had a full understanding of what we were getting into,” she remarked, underscoring the professionalism that permeated the production.
In an earlier interview, Bright reminisced about her initial encounter with Cameli, recalling the first kiss scene between their characters. “It was really funny because we would get really, really close, and they would go, ‘And cut!’” she said, illustrating the playful dynamic they share while working together. “We have so much fun together. He’s the greatest,” she continued, highlighting their blossoming friendship that formed during long hours on set.
Their bond extends back to their initial chemistry reads, where they quickly connected and exchanged numbers. Bright described their time on set as filled with camaraderie, stating, “When you spend that much time with someone—15, 16-hour days—you have to be just the best of friends.” She added that she greatly admires Cameli, further enriching their already strong partnership.
The conversation on age differences and professionalism in the entertainment industry continues to gain traction, particularly regarding the representation of younger actors in adult themes. As Bright continues to navigate her career, she exemplifies a blend of youthful exuberance and mature professionalism, striving to challenge preconceptions about age in acting.
“Off Campus” is now available for streaming on Prime Video, allowing audiences to follow the complex relationships and experiences of characters who epitomise the struggles of young adulthood. Bright’s commitment to her role, along with her insightful commentary on the series, indicates her potential for a promising future in the industry.
