Donald Trump Jr. is set to marry Bettina Anderson over the upcoming Memorial Day weekend, yet his father, President Donald Trump, has announced that he will not be present for the occasion. The president conveyed his regrets via a post on Truth Social, highlighting his commitment to his role in governance during this critical time.

In his message, the president stated, “While I very much wanted to be with my son, Don Jr., and the newest member of the Trump Family, his soon to be wife, Bettina, circumstances pertaining to Government, and my love for the United States of America, do not allow me to do so.” He expressed his intention to stay in Washington, D.C., during the holiday weekend instead of attending the wedding, which will reportedly take place on a private island in the Bahamas.

Originally, it was believed that President Trump was planning to spend the Memorial Day weekend at his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey. However, the White House updated his official schedule shortly after his announcement, confirming that he would now remain in the capital and not travel to the wedding.
During a press briefing on Thursday, the president had hinted at his possible absence, stating, “this is not good timing for me. I have a thing called Iran and other things.” He noted the difficult position he was in regarding the wedding, acknowledging that either choice – attending or not – could lead to negative scrutiny from the media. “If I do attend, I get killed. If I don’t attend, I get killed — by the fake news, of course,” he remarked.
Donald Trump Jr., who is 48 years old, and 39-year-old Bettina Anderson announced their engagement at a holiday event at the White House back in December 2025, with the president himself making the introduction. Their upcoming nuptials have attracted considerable attention, particularly given their timing amid ongoing global tensions.
Reports indicate that the couple will exchange vows in an intimate ceremony attended by close family and friends. The decision to host the wedding in the Bahamas seems to reflect their desire for a private celebration, away from the spotlight that a wedding at the White House could attract, especially in light of the political landscape.
Earlier this month, Bettina Anderson celebrated a bridal shower at Mar-a-Lago, which saw participation from various members of the Trump family, including future sisters-in-law Ivanka and Tiffany Trump, and Marla Maples, Donald Trump’s second wife. Though Melania Trump was absent from the event, sources described it as a charming affair held mostly indoors, with guests also enjoying the outdoor setting.
This marriage will be Bettina’s first, while it marks the second for Donald Trump Jr., who shares five children with his ex-wife, Vanessa Trump. Their children, ranging in age from 11 to 19, will undoubtedly play a significant role in their father’s new family chapter.
As the wedding weekend approaches, it remains to be seen how the family dynamics will evolve, particularly with Donald Trump’s ongoing political commitments overshadowing this joyous occasion. The couple’s wedding, though private, occurs amidst a backdrop of heightened global tensions and ongoing conflicts, underscoring the complex intersection of personal milestones and public responsibilities that often accompanies the lives of those in the Trump family.
