Royal Caribbean’s Harmony of the Seas has officially resumed operations following an extensive six-week refurbishment at the shipyard in Cadiz, Spain. The upgrades were part of Royal Caribbean’s ambitious Royal Amplified initiative, which seeks to modernise its fleet. Harmony of the Seas underwent a comprehensive dry dock period from 3 April to 19 May, allowing for both routine maintenance and the addition of numerous amenities. The improvements include the introduction of 91 new staterooms designed to enhance passenger comfort.

Among the notable enhancements are a Brazilian steakhouse known as Samba Grill and a vibrant tropical-themed bar called Lime & Coconut. Additionally, the onboard casino has been expanded, offering guests an upgraded gaming experience. These new dining and entertainment options are aligned with Royal Caribbean’s goal of providing guests with diverse and memorable experiences while at sea.

Further accentuating its revitalised presence, the ship has also received an exterior makeover. This includes a reimagined livery featuring a larger name displayed on the bow and a refreshed version of Royal Caribbean’s logo on the stern. Such visual updates not only give the ship a contemporary look but also signify its upgraded status within the fleet.
Following its refurbishment, Harmony of the Seas embarked on a four-night round trip, visiting picturesque destinations such as Palma de Mallorca, Spain, and Marseille, France. The ship’s itinerary for the spring season includes multiple week-long cruises to other beautiful Mediterranean cities such as La Spezia, Civitavecchia, and Naples, thereby catering to a variety of travel preferences.
In July, Harmony of the Seas is set to traverse the Atlantic Ocean back to North America with a 13-night transatlantic cruise from Barcelona. Upon its return, the ship will offer a series of two to seven-night cruises to the Caribbean and the Bahamas, departing from Port Canaveral, Florida. This transition marks a significant expansion in its operational scope as families and holidaymakers prepare for summer vacations.
The return of Harmony of the Seas follows closely after the successful refurbishment of Royal Caribbean’s Ovation of the Seas, which emerged from dry dock on 17 April. This vessel saw the addition of 40 new cabins, as well as enhancements to its pool deck, including a new whirlpool and private casitas. Ovation of the Seas also debuted a new dance and music venue, a tiki-themed bar, and even its own Starbucks outlet.
Moreover, Royal Caribbean’s Liberty of the Seas is scheduled to return to service on 31 May, boasting its own impressive upgrades. Among these is the introduction of “The Royal Escape Room,” a high-tech escape room experience that will replace the ship’s previous cigar lounge, reflecting the cruise line’s commitment to providing innovative and engaging entertainment options.
With Harmony of the Seas back in service alongside its fleetmates, Royal Caribbean continues to demonstrate its dedication to enhancing the cruising experience through thoughtful upgrades and diverse offerings. Passengers can now look forward to exploring both the Mediterranean and the Caribbean with greater comfort and an abundance of entertainment options aboard these modernised vessels.
