4-Year-Old Boy Falls from 4th Story Window of Pa. Apartment, Neighbor Says It’s a ‘Miracle’ He Survived

A four-year-old boy is being dubbed a miracle survivor after he fell from a fourth-floor apartment window in Ephrata, Pennsylvania, on Tuesday, May 19. The incident has left locals astonished at the boy’s resilience, especially considering the height of the fall.

At approximately 1:18 p.m., emergency services responded to reports of a child injured in a fall at a residential building located on Washington Avenue in Ephrata. According to the Ephrata Police Department, the child had slipped through the window screen and plunged from the fourth floor. Witnesses reported that the boy’s family promptly rushed to his side, and remarkably, he remained conscious and alert throughout the ordeal. Police Sergeant Chad Allen stated that the child’s ability to stay responsive after the incident was nothing short of lucky, especially given the potential severity of such falls. “We are very grateful, as is the family,” Allen noted, emphasising that outcomes like this are often much worse.

After the fall, the boy was initially transported by ambulance to Stevens Fire Company, where he was subsequently airlifted to a medical facility in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Despite the frightening incident, medical evaluations revealed that he had only sustained a broken arm.

Therese Mohler, a resident living across from the apartment complex, recounted hearing frantic screams from outside her home. “We heard someone yelling that they had to call for an ambulance because a child fell,” Mohler explained. She remembered the mother being visibly upset but managing to stay composed in the face of panic.
