Alexa Lemieux, a notable participant from the third season of Netflix’s reality show “Love Is Blind,” has recently shared her insights into the reasons behind her divorce from husband Brennon Lemieux. The couple, who welcomed their daughter Vienna in July 2024, announced their split in December 2025, marking the end of a relationship that began when they tied the knot in 2021.

Speaking on Giannina Gibelli’s podcast, “He Said, G Said,” Alexa provided a heartfelt account of her feelings during the marriage. She expressed her struggle with the perception of love and compatibility, stating that both she and Brennon had different emotional needs. “Honestly, I just feel like we didn’t love each other in the way the other person needed to be,” she expressed. For Alexa, expressions of affection, such as public displays of love and physical affection, were essential, yet she felt these needs were not met.
The couple’s announcement of their separation came in a joint statement, signalling a mutual recognition that their relationship had run its course. Despite this, Alexa emphasised that she holds no animosity towards Brennon, recognising that their differing love languages contributed to the rift. “There’s nothing wrong with him. That’s just not how he is,” she stated. This reflection illustrates her understanding that their incompatibility was not a personal failing but a fundamental difference in how they expressed love.
In the podcast, Alexa revealed that she had contemplated setting aside her own emotional needs for the sake of their family. However, as time went on, she realised that she desired a deeper connection. She confessed, “I just didn’t feel like I was loved the way that I needed to be loved.” Ultimately, she came to the conclusion that it was healthier for both herself and her daughter to make a change. “I would rather die alone than experience that again,” she shared, articulating the exhaustion she felt from trying to maintain the marriage.
Reflecting on the toll that the relationship had taken on her, Alexa remarked, “You have to have two people that want a marriage to work, and I was exhausted trying to do that.” She recognised that attempts to salvage the relationship felt one-sided and acknowledged that the emotional strain of holding onto something that had faltered was detrimental to her well-being.
Following the split, Alexa has maintained her former spouse’s surname and is adamant about setting a positive example for her daughter, Vienna. When discussing concerns regarding the impression a divorce might leave on a child’s upbringing, she stated, “Keeping something that’s not working, that’s a broken home.” For her, the most important aspect was to act in a way that she could be proud of in the eyes of her child. She emphasised her efforts to ensure that Vienna understands what a healthy relationship should look like, saying, “I can say that I 1000% did that.”
Importantly, Alexa clarified that the arrival of their child had not been a catalyst for their separation, contrary to common assumptions about relationships after becoming parents. “A lot of commentary is that babies make things hard. I think it brought us closer in a way,” she explained. Yet, she added that the trajectory of their relationship was clear, and she felt relieved to have avoided prolonging a situation that was not conducive to love.
Overall, Alexa Lemieux’s reflections reveal a poignant journey of self-discovery and growth. While she loved her husband, she ultimately recognised the importance of fulfilling her own emotional needs, both for her sake and for Vienna’s future understanding of love. As she embarks on this new chapter as a single mother, her focus remains on fostering a positive environment for her daughter and ensuring that she knows what genuine love should entail.
