Television personality and entrepreneur Bozoma Saint John recently enjoyed a surprise bachelorette party on the idyllic private island of Ambergris Cay, as she prepares to marry her fiancé, Keely Watson. The extravagant weekend was organised by her close friends, who aimed to create an unforgettable experience for the 49-year-old star of *The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills*.

In an exclusive interview, Saint John expressed her astonishment at the surprise trip, saying, “Let me tell you, this is beyond my dreams. I had no idea where I was going or who would be there. My friends kept everything a secret, even down to what I should pack, which was a challenge for someone who likes to be in control.”
The masterminds behind the event were her friends Justina Omokhua and Luvvie Ajayi Jones. Accompanying them were attorney Leander Dolphin, marketing expert Erika Priestley, journalist Cari Champion, and hospitality executive Francine Stewart. Omokhua acknowledged the effort involved in coordinating the weekend, stating, “It’s been a labour of love. We wanted to create an experience that reflected Boz’s generous spirit and gave her a chance to truly relax for once, away from her hectic life.”
Ambergris Cay was the perfect retreat, chosen for its serene atmosphere and luxury. Omokhua highlighted the importance of the venue, noting, “We wanted Boz to have a break from everything. This location felt like a world away from the public eye, allowing her to unwind.” During their time there, the group embraced a theme inspired by the popular Migos song, “Bad & Boujee,” calling the weekend “Bach and Bougie.”
Saint John, known for her vibrant style and appreciation for the finer things in life, remarked that the theme exceeded her expectations. “They really know me well,” she said. “I have a penchant for luxury, but this was luxury on a whole other level.”
Initially, the festivities began with a pre-party in New York City, where she celebrated with friends who would not be joining on the trip. After this, she and her close-knit group boarded a private jet to Ambergris Cay. Recalling her arrival, Saint John shared, “When we landed, I was overwhelmed with gratitude and excitement. The property is beautiful, offering stunning views of the Atlantic, all in a peaceful and luxurious setting.”
While the tranquil island offered a beautiful backdrop for relaxation, the vibrant group certainly made their presence felt, embracing an itinerary filled with activities. Omokhua described their clothing choices, saying, “We incorporated the colours of the Ghanaian flag into our dress code to honour Boz’s roots, which is where she plans to hold her traditional ceremony.”
The weekend included various events such as chef’s table dinners, sunrise yoga, pickleball lessons, massages, and even conch diving. Champion produced an emotional video montage celebrating Saint John, which added to the festivities. Saint John reflected on the significance of this support, saying, “It’s truly wonderful to be surrounded by those who love you and celebrate your achievements alongside you.”
Saint John’s journey to this joyful occasion has not been without its challenges, having navigated the loss of her first husband, a battle with cancer, and the complexities of raising her beautiful daughter, Lael. She expressed profound gratitude for her friends, recognising their crucial role in her life. “They’ve been there through my first marriage, the loss of my child, and all my ups and downs in the past twelve years. They’re like family.”
Looking ahead, Saint John is excited about her upcoming wedding to Watson, noting a stark contrast between this relationship and her past experiences. “This time around with Keely, everything has felt surprisingly easy. My friends have never been far in celebrating me, and you would think they were the ones getting married!”
The close-knit group also made an unspoken pact of secrecy during their celebrations. “This is the crew I know I can rely on to share my wild moments,” Saint John said with a smile. As she awaits her weddings later this year—whether in the US or in Ghana—she aptly reflected on her current chapter, stating, “I wasn’t sure this season of life would find me, but it has, and I’m going to enjoy it to the fullest.”
With such a strong support system and an exciting future ahead, Bozoma Saint John is truly embracing this new chapter in her life.
