**Twin Sisters Celebrate Academic Achievement in Unique Graduation Ceremony**

Tampa, Florida – Twin sisters Alyssa and Adriana Lyons have made history at the Academy of the Holy Names, becoming the first twins in the institution’s 144-year legacy to earn the prestigious titles of valedictorian and salutatorian. The sisters were celebrated for their exceptional academic achievements at their high school graduation ceremony on May 19, held at a local performing arts centre.
As they stand on the brink of their future, both students have chosen to continue their educational journey together by enrolling at the University of Florida this autumn. Both will pursue degrees in chemistry as they embark on a pre-med track, with aspirations of attending medical school afterward.
Adriana, who delivered a heartfelt valedictorian speech before an audience of over 1,000 attendees, expressed a sentiment of courage and support. “Although I still cannot fully see what comes next, I no longer fear what I cannot see,” she remarked. With a powerful message of empowerment, she encouraged her peers, stating, “What I can see is a room filled with intelligent, ambitious women fully capable of changing lives, leading fearlessly, and getting out there and killing it.”
Alyssa, who took the stage as the salutatorian, reflected on the importance of the community that surrounded them during their school years. “I can confidently say that I would not be the person I am today without every single person in this room,” Alyssa said in her remarks, which resonated deeply with the audience and their mother, Jonna Lyons, a managing director in the technology sector.
Jonna shared how emotional both speeches were for her, noting that many parents approached her in tears after the event. She recounted how the principal and a teacher praised the twins for delivering the best graduation speeches they had ever witnessed.
The principal of the Academy, Jeane McNamara, heralded the moment as special for the school community, stating, “Adriana and Alyssa exemplify what it means to be Academy women — intellectually curious, compassionate, faith-filled, and committed to serving others.”

The twins, who have attended the academy since kindergarten, have logged over 500 hours each volunteering. Their summer internship at the University of Chicago Medicine Comer Children’s Hospital and a mission trip to Guatemala, where they helped build homes and provided supplies to those in need, showcased their commitment to making a difference.
Their mother highlighted the importance of their relationship, sharing, “Their dedication really stands out.” Even as the twins entered their senior year and took fewer classes together, they continually supported one another, demonstrating a bond that goes beyond sibling rivalry.
In recognition of their accomplishments, Alyssa and Adriana received approximately $287,000 in scholarship offers and merit awards from various colleges. Despite being accepted to multiple schools, they mutually decided on the University of Florida, affirming the desire to remain on the same educational path. “We definitely knew that we wanted to go to the same school,” Alyssa stated with conviction.
As the sisters prepare to transition into college life, they are focused on their long-term ambitions, which include becoming doctors. While they are yet to pinpoint their specific medical specialties, their shared commitment to education and success remains steadfast.
