A young girl from the UK is capturing hearts across social media as her family embarks on a heartfelt mission to create cherished memories amid her ongoing battle with a brain tumour. Four-year-old Brooke Birch was diagnosed with a low-grade glioma, which is impacting her eyesight and prompting her parents, Dave and Zoe Birch, to take extraordinary measures.

Brooke’s health issues first came to light when her parents noticed her left eye appeared “lazy.” Concerned, they sought the help of an eye specialist, who initiated a course of treatment that included glasses and an eye patch in hopes of improving her condition. Unfortunately, despite their efforts, Brooke’s health rapidly declined; she became less active and struggled with her appetite.
After presenting her symptoms to a doctor, the family received the shocking news that a shadow had been detected behind Brooke’s eye, along with two other shadows further back in her brain. Dave described the moment, stating, “Our brains were going into overdrive,” after they were informed that Brooke had a low-grade glioma, a type of tumour often slow-growing but potentially life-altering.
This particular type of tumour presents certain challenges. As described by medical sources, low-grade gliomas are the most prevalent central nervous system tumours in children, accounting for 30% of such cases. In Brooke’s situation, the tumour is inoperable as it is firmly attached to a nerve behind her left eye. Medical professionals indicated that current treatments aim only to halt the tumour’s growth.
Recent medical evaluations revealed that while the tumour has not changed in size, Brooke’s eyesight is sadly deteriorating. Dave shared his distressing observation: “In her last eyesight test, she was able to see pictures the size of an apple, but now she can’t even see that size.” As a result, the Birch family is determined to provide Brooke with a memorable trip to Disneyland Paris to meet her beloved princess, Elsa from the animated film Frozen, while she still has her vision.
To fund this special excursion, Dave and Zoe have launched a GoFundMe campaign. With Zoe committed to caring for Brooke full-time and Dave needing to cut back on his work hours, the family’s financial situation has become precarious.
