An Arizona man has been arrested following an alleged stabbing of his mother while she lay asleep on the couch. The incident occurred in Chandler, where police were summoned to a home in the early hours of the morning on May 15, after reports of a violent attack surfaced.

Upon arrival at the residence, officers found the victim suffering from severe injuries. Emergency medical personnel quickly transported her to a hospital, where she underwent surgery to treat life-threatening wounds to her neck. Thankfully, following the operation, her condition has stabilised and she is currently recovering.
The suspected assailant, identified as George Randall, 25, was taken into custody at the scene. He has since been charged with attempted first-degree murder and aggravated assault, with initial court proceedings beginning shortly after his arrest.
During a recent hearing, a prosecutor from the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office provided disturbing details regarding the case. It was alleged that Randall had been contemplating the act for weeks prior to the incident. “This appears to be a completely unprovoked attack,” the prosecutor stated, as he outlined the charges against him.
Randall allegedly made a chilling admission to law enforcement, indicating that he had specifically chosen the location of the attack to inflict maximum harm. The prosecutor elaborated, stating that Randall targeted the side of his mother’s neck while she was defenseless and asleep, revealing the premeditated nature of the act.
