A bride from Indianapolis, Erin Johnson, has been faced with a distressing setback as her wedding plans have been thrown into disarray due to a delayed delivery of her wedding dress by UPS. Her planned wedding date, set for May 9, has now been postponed to a later date this summer after the gown failed to arrive on time.

Johnson’s troubles began after she purchased her wedding dress from a shop in Miami, Florida. As her wedding day approached, she tracked the delivery incessantly. However, mere days before the ceremony, she discovered that the dress was nowhere to be found and thus made the difficult decision to delay her wedding.

In her efforts to address the situation, Johnson contacted various UPS facilities, including locations in Indianapolis, Plainfield, and even corporate offices. Her attempts to get clarity on the whereabouts of her gown proved fruitless, prompting her to seek assistance from local media outlet FOX59 News. She appealed to journalist Rafael Sánchez, who covers consumer complaints through his “Call Rafael” segment, aimed at resolving urgent issues for viewers.
During an interview, Johnson expressed her frustration with the lack of communication from UPS. She stated, “I have called different UPS locators… I even emailed UPS’ CEO.” Her determination to locate her wedding dress epitomised her desperation as she described her ordeal as “a cry for help.”
Her expectation was for the package to arrive at least one week before her wedding day, ideally by May 1. However, tracking data revealed that the dress travelled through several locations, moving from Miami to Jacksonville, then Nashville, and finally arriving at Indianapolis on May 1. Yet, it never made it to her doorstep.
The wedding dress, which Johnson described as “beautiful,” was not only a significant part of her wedding but also carried a hefty price tag of approximately £1,600, in addition to shipping costs of £89. As a working-class mother of four girls, Johnson had envisioned her wedding day as a momentous occasion, and the dress held special meaning for her.
“This was going to make the perfect day,” she remarked. “It’s the perfect dress. What bride doesn’t feel like their dress is the perfect dress? I wanted my dress. I still want my dress.”
In response to the situation, a UPS spokesperson issued a statement acknowledging the inconvenience and apologising for the troubles faced by Johnson. They confirmed that the company was actively working to locate the missing package. “We strive to provide outstanding service and regret when we fall short,” the statement read.
As the situation unfolds, Johnson remains hopeful that the dress will be located soon. Meanwhile, her plans for the wedding have been temporarily shelved, leaving her to manage the disappointment while preparing for a new date. This incident serves as a reminder of the potential pitfalls associated with logistics and delivery services, particularly during significant life events such as weddings.
As Johnson navigates this unexpected challenge, her story shines a light on the pressures faced by couples when planning their nuptials and the importance of timely communication from service providers. With the support of media coverage and community empathy, she aims to ensure that when her wedding is finally held, it will be all that she has dreamed.
