A valiant police officer in Chattanooga, Tennessee, has been praised for his quick response in rescuing a mother and her two young children from a fire that broke out on the evening of 1 May. The incident occurred in a two-storey apartment building located on Cranberry Way, and thankfully, no injuries have been reported.

As the flames engulfed the second floor of the building shortly before 9:45 p.m., the Chattanooga Fire Department quickly received multiple reports of the blaze. Officers were on the scene as fire crews were alerted, and they immediately took action to evacuate residents from the apartment complex. The Chattanooga Police Department commended Officer Rogers, who was the first responder to arrive at the scene.

Surveillance footage from Officer Rogers’ body camera reveals the urgency of the situation as he was informed that individuals were still trapped inside. Without hesitation, he dashed into the smoke-filled apartment and managed to save a four-year-old girl. The mother, Rachel Blaylock, followed closely behind with her ten-year-old son, ensuring that they all made it to safety.

After successfully guiding the children outside, Officer Rogers returned to assist further, even using a fire extinguisher to help control the flames threatening the entrance. The police confirmed that his quick thinking played a crucial role in ensuring the family’s safety during what could have been a devastating incident.

Rachel Blaylock expressed her gratitude towards Officer Rogers, describing his willingness to re-enter the building. “He just grabs her, and he was willing to go back in,” she remarked.
