At the age of 83, Ford remains dynamic, but following a near-fatal plane crash in 2015, his perspective on leisure activities has transformed. He recalled the dramatic incident, where he was forced to land his vintage World War II aircraft after experiencing engine failure shortly after taking off from Los Angeles. The crash resulted in serious injuries, including a shattered pelvis and ankle, and a broken back. Since then, Ford has felt a renewed appreciation for the outdoors, which he now explores on his mountain bike.
“I used to spend a lot of time flying. Now I spend a lot of time on my bike,” Ford remarked, commenting on his changed lifestyle.
