In the trailer for the series, Lee reflects on his unexpected rise to fame, stating, “How we got here? I have no idea,” while the video showcases highlights from his journey as a content creator. What began as a way to alleviate his performance anxiety—stemming from his previous career in mixed martial arts—has transformed into a vibrant online brand that connects with millions through food reviews and personal stories.

Lee began his foray into content creation on TikTok, primarily posting videos of himself enjoying meals in his car. As he navigated the challenges of training and supporting his family through DoorDash deliveries, Lee’s authenticity resonated with viewers, allowing him to cultivate a following that now exceeds 20 million across TikTok and Instagram. His videos often include endearing moments featuring his wife Ronni and their children, making them relatable for a wide audience.
As part of his mission, Keith Lee is dedicated to elevating establishments in underprivileged communities. By leveraging his social media influence, he has created what’s become known as the “Keith Lee effect”—an impactful phenomenon in which posts about local eateries can significantly boost their visibility and profitability. Lee passionately believes that “one post can change a business,” acknowledging the profound effect that support can have on families.
In anticipation of the festival, Lee encourages his audience to help identify local spots that represent diverse food cultures. During an interview, he expressed the sentiment that the festival is about more than just food; it is about building community ties. “If you or anybody know local spots that represent the food culture, be looking for one or maybe two spots to come to the food festival,” he stated earnestly.
The upcoming food festival marks a significant growth in Lee’s journey, described by him as the “hardest” project he has ever undertaken. While attending the Webby Awards in New York City, Lee spoke about the complexities of coordinating the event, revealing he was in the midst of finalising arrangements, including a special Bluefin tuna tasting sourced from Portland, Oregon. In addition to the culinary offerings, the festival will feature a range of live performances, with artists like Mannie Fresh, Kirk Franklin, and Big Freedia slated to take the stage.
The festival’s creation is seen as a natural evolution from his previous Familee Food Tour, during which Lee travelled extensively to review and promote local restaurants in various cities. The tour presented its own set of challenges, notably balancing family dynamics during long periods of travel. “We were in the van for eight to 10 hours a day with my screaming babies in the background,” he recalled, adding a touch of humour to the chaos.
Committed to supporting small businesses and minority-owned enterprises, Lee has made a concerted effort to lower barriers for participation in the festival. In a notable gesture, he announced the waiving of vendor fees for local New Orleans restaurants, enabling more businesses to partake in the celebrations.
Moreover, family appears to be a cornerstone of Lee’s philosophy; during a birthday trip to Japan, he and his immediate family got matching tattoos featuring the word “family” in Japanese. He envisions this as a symbol of unity and a representation of their shared journey. “We plan on getting family in every different language of any country that we go to. So that kind of became our calling card,” he shared.
Despite his growing fame, Lee remains humble and credits much of his success to his family and team. “I don’t like things to be Keith Lee this, Keith Lee that,” he said, emphasising his desire to place his family at the forefront of his ventures and maintain a focus on small, local businesses.
As the countdown to his festival continues, Lee is poised to make an indelible mark on the culinary landscape while simultaneously uplifting his community and celebrating familial bonds. His journey reflects not only his individual achievements, but also the powerful impact one person can have by connecting heartily with others through shared passions.
