A 32-year-old man from Arizona has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder and kidnapping in a disturbing case involving the discovery of dismembered human remains within his residence. According to court documents acquired by PEOPLE, the investigation started after a concerned individual, Jeffery Majalca, contacted law enforcement, stating that his daughter, Selena Blanco, had informed him her boyfriend had been killed by Ebanks. Blanco claimed that the dismembered body of her boyfriend had been stored in an apartment. Furthermore, she relayed to her father that the remains were initially placed in a bathtub before being wrapped in carpet and concealed inside a closet.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers from the Phoenix Police Department (PPD) noticed the strong scent of bleach and cleaning products, indicating attempts at a cover-up. The apartment exhibited signs of a cleanup, with wet floors and various cleaning supplies scattered throughout. Bloodstains were also evident, raising concerns about the nature of the events that had transpired within the dwelling.

During this investigation, police discovered the remains of a male victim who was missing both his head and hands. The dismembered body had been wrapped in carpeting and an air mattress, bound with an extension cord. As the inquiry progressed, the victim’s identity was not disclosed, nor was his relationship to Ebanks clarified.
Blanco provided further context to investigators as they delved deeper into the timeline leading up to the alleged murder. She explained that her boyfriend had contacted Ebanks, known to her as “Draco,” on 6 May to seek assistance in procuring money for rent. An argument ensued between Blanco, her boyfriend, and Ebanks, during which she asserted that Ebanks repeatedly stabbed her partner with a knife.
Additionally, Blanco alleged that Ebanks compelled her to drive to his apartment in Glendale, Arizona. Upon arrival, she claimed he forced her to take a shower in a purported effort to destroy evidence of the crime. Furthermore, she stated that Ebanks used both a knife and a firearm to threaten her into helping with the cleanup process.
Following these revelations, the PPD’s Homicide Unit utilised surveillance footage, mobile phone records, and details from Ebanks’ previous criminal history to locate him. On 8 May, authorities executed a search warrant at Ebanks’ apartment, where they reportedly uncovered a suitcase containing human remains.
Despite the accumulating evidence against him, Ebanks allegedly chose not to engage with investigators. He has been formally charged with first-degree murder and kidnapping, and a judge has set a cash bond at $1 million. His next court appearance is scheduled for 14 May.
At the time of his arrest, Ebanks was on probation after pleading guilty to charges related to weapons misconduct and possession of a dangerous drug earlier in the year.
The Phoenix Police Department, along with the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office and the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office, have been approached for comment regarding this ongoing case. As the investigation unfolds, the local community remains in shock at the severity of the accusations against Ebanks. Further updates are expected as details emerge from the ongoing legal proceedings.
The case underscores the potential for violence stemming from domestic disputes, and highlights the importance of mental health resources and conflict resolution avenues within communities. As investigators continue to piece together the events leading to this heinous crime, the victim’s identity and background will hopefully soon provide a clearer picture of this tragic situation.
