Caroline Kennedy, the only surviving child of President John F. Kennedy and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, is actively supporting her son Jack Schlossberg in his congressional campaign. The 33-year-old Democrat recently announced his bid for New York’s 12th Congressional District, following the retirement of long-serving Congressman Jerry Nadler.

In a recent interview with CBS Sunday Morning, Caroline expressed her confidence in Jack, stating that he has the potential to resonate with a younger generation. “We need people who can reach a new generation,” she remarked, clearly standing by her son’s ambitions as he steps into the political arena. Jack’s campaign slogan, “Jack for New York 12. Believe in something again,” was echoed by Caroline, highlighting her solid support for his message.

Jack Schlossberg, who is both a licensed attorney and a former political correspondent for Vogue, values the input of his parents, Caroline and Ed Schlossberg. Describing their family dynamic, he noted, “For me, when you talk about the Kennedy family, it’s a lot of people I don’t know. When you talk about what ‘family’ is, it’s me, my sisters, my parents. We’re a unit.”
The campaign comes at a particularly poignant time for the Schlossberg family. Jack’s older sister, Tatiana, a prominent environmental journalist, passed away from acute myeloid leukaemia in December, shortly after he declared his candidacy. Following a necessary period of mourning, Jack has returned to the campaign trail, driven by a promise he made to his sister. “The last thing that [Tatiana] said to me was, ‘You better win,’” he recounted, showcasing the deep bond that remains within the family despite their tragedy.
Caroline has made several public appearances to bolster Jack’s campaign. She was photographed attending a private event in late February, where she was seen actively engaging with supporters. Further public recognition of their partnership occurred during an exclusive interview with CBS Sunday Morning, where the couple openly expressed their backing of Jack’s run.
The campaigning efforts continued in early May when Caroline joined Jack on the Upper West Side, engaging with potential voters directly. Photos shared on social media captured their approachability, including a pivotal stop at the iconic Jewish deli, Barney Greengrass. The image, which Jack posted with the caption “Jack for NEW YORK !”, reflects the personal touch he aims to bring to his candidacy.
Additionally, on May 8, the pair attended a charity lunch organised by Every Mother Counts, a maternal health advocacy organisation. Their involvement in such events underscores their commitment to community engagement and social issues, which are likely to play a role in Jack’s campaign strategy.
As her son seeks to carve out his own identity in a political landscape often dominated by legacy, Caroline Kennedy reinforces the values of connection and authenticity. She believes in Jack’s ability to connect with diverse communities and to present thoughtful solutions to contemporary issues.
In a political climate where experience is often juxtaposed with fresh ideas, Jack Schlossberg’s campaign represents a blend of both. With strong familial support and a clear sense of purpose, he is poised to make his mark in the New York congressional race, seeking to inspire belief in the political process once more among his constituents.
