An Ohio woman has been charged with multiple counts of child endangerment following allegations of abuse against an infant in her care. Kamariea Marshall, who was babysitting a three-month-old boy, is accused of inflicting serious injuries on the child, including bruises, fractured ribs, and bite marks.

The incidents took place in March, while the boy’s mother was engaged in packing her apartment for upcoming renovations. In an interview with WTVG, the mother explained that she needed a few days to get everything ready, so she entrusted her son to Marshall’s care. However, soon after, she received a text from Marshall questioning the various marks that had appeared on the baby’s body during that time.
Upon discovering the injuries, the mother took her child to the hospital, where initial assessments led to alarming findings. Upon her arrival, hospital staff informed the mother that her baby was struggling to breathe. Concerned medical professionals observed the child’s numerous injuries, which included noticeable bruises on his chest, fractured ribs, a bite mark on one leg, and scratches on his cheeks. The medical team suspected that the boy had been subjected to abuse and promptly notified the authorities.
In court documents, the mother stated that Marshall had claimed to staff at the hospital that she thought the boy was simply unwell, as reported by WTVG. Nevertheless, the gravity of the child’s condition raised immediate alarm among medical and law enforcement personnel involved in the case.
Marshall was indicted on charges of child endangerment in April and subsequently turned herself in to Adult Probation authorities on May 4. She had been on probation for previous convictions related to theft and assault. Following her arrest, Marshall was booked into the Lucas County Jail in Toledo, Ohio. She is scheduled to appear in court for a hearing on 13 May.
Despite the traumatic ordeal, the mother of the child has provided a positive update on his condition, stating that he is now “doing good” and has returned to a state of health following the distressing events.
