Chelsea Green, a prominent star in the world of WWE, has recently shared her experience of undergoing a heart procedure to treat supraventricular tachycardia (SVT), a condition she has battled for the past decade. The 35-year-old athlete took to Instagram to document her recovery following the procedure, which was prompted by a worrying spike in her heart rate during a recent event.

On 5 May, Green posted a photo from her hospital bed, alongside her husband, fellow WWE wrestler Matt Cardona. In her post, she expressed relief, stating, “After 10 years, doctors finally caught my SVT and I was able to get a heart procedure done! Three hours later and I’m on the mend.”

Chelsea Green’s health issues had recently come to a head during the illustrious WrestleMania event. During her latest episode of SVT, her heart rate soared to an alarming 228 beats per minute for almost 15 minutes. This concerning increase in heart rate not only illustrated the severity of her condition but also the risks associated with it, emphasising the importance of medical intervention.

SVT is described by the Mayo Clinic as a form of arrhythmia characterised by an exceedingly fast or erratic heartbeat, often affecting the heart’s upper chambers. While symptoms can vary, they typically include palpitations, chest pain, and shortness of breath. In Green’s case, the condition had been impacting her well-being for a significant period.
In an earlier Instagram post, ahead of her procedure, Green candidly shared her nerves about the situation. The photo depicted her attempting a smile for a pre-operative picture, despite admitting that she was emotionally overwhelmed. This openness has resonated with many of her followers, who have expressed their support throughout her health challenges.
Following her heart surgery, Green received an outpouring of well-wishes from friends and fans, underscored by pictures of colourful flower bouquets and thoughtful gifts. Among these was a gift basket featuring Khloe Kardashian’s Khloud popcorn, highlighting the camaraderie and care that exists within the wrestling community.
Green updated her fans further, disclosing that her procedure had been minimally invasive, allowing her to anticipate a swift recovery. “Yesterday, Dr. Girgis spent three hours working on me… and I had to be awake for the last hour of the procedure!! Thankfully it was minimally invasive and I’ll be back to work very soon,” she reassured her followers. Her resilience and determination to return to the ring soon are commendable, especially after having to contend with an ankle injury earlier this year that kept her from participating in WrestleMania 42.
WrestleMania, one of the premier events in professional wrestling, took place in Las Vegas from 19 to 20 April. Unfortunately, due to her ankle injury, Green missed the opportunity to compete, an experience that must have been disappointing for the two-time WWE women’s U.S. champion. Now, with her heart procedure complete, she looks forward to rejoining her colleagues in the squared circle.
As her fans eagerly await her return, Green’s journey serves as a reminder of the challenges and pressures faced by professional athletes, especially in a physically demanding industry like wrestling. Through her transparency about her health struggles, she has inspired many who might be facing their own health battles to seek help and share their stories.
In a sport where strength and resilience are paramount, Chelsea Green’s courage in addressing her health issues speaks volumes. As she embarks on her recovery, supporters will undoubtedly continue to rally behind her, eager to see her back in action in the near future.
