Country music superstar Dolly Parton has announced the cancellation of her anticipated Las Vegas residency due to ongoing health challenges that she has been facing. The news comes after she initially postponed her shows in September 2025, citing the need for several medical procedures and struggles with kidney stones.

Parton, who was set to perform at the renowned Colosseum at Caesars Palace in December 2025, had to reschedule her six shows to autumn 2026. In her September announcement on Instagram, she expressed her disappointment but explained that her doctors advised her to prioritise her health. “As many of you know, I’ve been dealing with some health challenges,” she wrote, adding, “it must be time for my 100,000 check-up.”
The 77-year-old singer’s health troubles became apparent when she missed an event at her own theme park, Dollywood, due to a kidney stone infection. This led to rising concerns among fans about the severity of her condition, particularly after her sister, Freida Parton, shared a heartfelt post on Facebook urging followers to pray for Dolly’s wellbeing. Freida later clarified that her message was not meant to alarm, stating that Dolly was merely “a little under the weather.”

In October 2025, Dolly’s representative confirmed that her health concerns stemmed solely from kidney stones, which were manageable but required treatment. As time progressed, the situation surrounding Dolly’s health remained a topic of intrigue for her fans. She later released a video in May 2026, providing an update on her condition while reassuring her supporters that she was responding positively to medication and treatments, although her recovery would take time.

“First, it’s concerning my health — and I have some good news and a little bad news,” Parton revealed in an Instagram video. She explained that while she was feeling better, certain medications left her feeling disoriented, preventing her from returning to the stage just yet. Reflecting on her health issues, she humorously likened her recovery to restoring a classic car, emphasising optimism for her eventual comeback.
Parton reassured fans that she remains engaged with various projects, including ongoing work on her Broadway musical, “Dolly: A True Original Musical,” expected to debut in New York later this year. “I am truly sorry that I’m going to miss all of you that had tickets to see me in Las Vegas,” she expressed in her video, encouraging fans to enjoy their time in Las Vegas and hopefully catch her show on Broadway.
Dolly also shared poignant reflections on her late husband, Carl Dean, who passed away in March 2025. In her message, she expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support from fans during a challenging year. Highlighting the need to address her internal health needs, she remarked on the significance of taking care of oneself, stating, “Plastic surgeons can make you look as good as you can on the outside, but it’s serious business when you’re talking about internal medicine.”
Despite the setback of cancelling her residency, Dolly Parton remains a symbol of resilience. “I have great doctors, and I’m doing really well, and they assure me that everything I have is treatable,” she said, embodying a spirit of hope for her recovery. As her fans continue to support her through this difficult time, Parton’s unwavering dedication to her craft and authenticity in sharing her journey are qualities they cherish.
