In an Instagram Reel posted on Monday, Parton acknowledged the struggles of her immune and digestive systems, stating, “Let’s think of me like an old classic car, that once restored, can be better than ever.” Her comments reflect a sense of humour that has long been a hallmark of her public persona. In October 2025, she had postponed her Las Vegas shows mentioning problems with kidney stones, and she is still not ready to return to performing.
Parton expressed gratitude towards her supporters, saying, “Thank you for standing by me and showing me so much love and support over the past year.” Though she is on the mend, she admitted that she still has some way to go before she can return to the stage, explaining that her medications sometimes leave her feeling disoriented. “The bad news is that it’s gonna take me a little while before I’m up to stage performance level,” she explained.

In her characteristic playful manner, Parton likened her health restoration to the process of reviving an antique car. She remarked humorously about needing to overhaul parts, saying, “When they raised the hood on this old antique, they realized that I need to rebuild my engine.” This metaphor resonated with fans and illustrated her determination to heal completely.
Earlier on, she had discussed her long-standing battle with kidney stones, a condition she has openly acknowledged in the past. “They dig more stones out of me a year than the rock quarry in Rockwood, Tennessee,” she quipped. Parton elaborated on how her immune and digestive systems needed time to recover, sharing her resolve to get back to full health.
Despite these challenges, Parton remains active in her work. She has been busy creating content, recording music, and preparing for the opening of a museum and hotel in Nashville later this year. She also mentioned her involvement in rewriting and reworking “Dolly: A True Original Musical,” set to debut on Broadway. This continuance of her creative pursuits reflects her tenacity and passion for her craft, even in the face of health hurdles.
In addition to her health update, Parton reflected on the personal loss of her beloved husband, Carl Thomas Dean, who passed away in March 2025. She expressed her appreciation for the support she received during this difficult time, stating, “You would be surprised how much your love and concern meant to me during that time.” Her words convey a deep sense of gratitude for her fans, illustrating how their kindness has aided her healing process.
Parton also touched upon the toll that grief can take on one’s health, using humour to cope with her memories of Dean. “I said, ‘Well, honey, you’ve got to remember that as long as there are plastic surgeons in this world, I’m not getting any older,’” she joked, blending her signature wit with a poignant reflection on love and loss.
Concluding her message, Parton assured her fans that she has a team of capable doctors who are managing her health concerns and provided a reassuring note of optimism about her recovery. “I have great doctors, and they assure me that everything is treatable,” she said.
As she looks ahead, Parton expressed her excitement to reconnect with her fans, leaving them with a heartfelt message: “I will always love you.” Her resilience and positivity continue to inspire many, as they await her return to the stage.
