The Amarillo Police Department (APD) has confirmed that the party had initially started at a different location before moving to the apartment complex. Eyewitness accounts suggest that some attendees had been asked to leave the initial venue, and they consequently followed others to the new site. It is reported that these individuals attempted to enter an apartment at the complex, leading to an eruption of gunfire, during which a rifle-style weapon was used.

Disturbing security footage captured by a nearby home surveillance camera has been released by authorities. The video shows chaotic scenes as individuals fled the area while a barrage of gunshots rang out, highlighting the alarming nature of the event. The two young victims have been identified as 17-year-old Ezekiel Rudy Almazan and a 16-year-old boy, whose identity has not yet been disclosed.
Among the injured, several sustained gunshot wounds, and at least ten individuals were treated for various injuries attributed to the shooting. In the aftermath, police discovered a Glock 9mm handgun located on a landing outside one of the apartments, leading investigators to believe that multiple weapons were discharged during the incident, as suggested by the cartridge casings found in the vicinity.
Although the police have identified two suspects in connection with the shooting, their relationship to the victims remains unclear. Initial findings indicate that the attack was likely targeted, although no specific motive has been established at this time. This detail has raised concerns among the local community, given the violent nature of the crime.
Amarillo Police Chief Thomas Hover addressed the media, stating that the suspects had some form of connection to the targeted location and were known to at least one of the individuals present at the party. He described the criminal behaviour exhibited as “unacceptable” and affirmed the department’s commitment to ensuring the safety of the Amarillo community.
The police have appealed to the public for assistance in their investigation. They are asking anyone who may have doorbell camera or security footage capturing the incident or any relevant unusual activities in the area to contact them. Such information could prove crucial as authorities work to uncover further details about the shooting.
The investigation is ongoing, and the Amarillo Police Department assures residents that any new information will be disseminated as it becomes available. There remains a palpable concern within the community regarding safety and the increased frequency of such violent occurrences, fuelling a desire for swift justice for the victims and their families.
