Uber is set to enhance its mobile app experience with a host of innovative features that promise to transform how users navigate travel, dining, shopping, and accessibility. The announcements were made during the company’s GO-GET 2026 event held on Wednesday in New York City.

Highlighting the event was a significant partnership with Expedia Group, which will allow users in the United States to book hotel accommodations directly through the Uber app. With this new feature, branded as “Hotels,” users can explore a selection of over 700,000 hotel listings conveniently from their mobile devices. The feature will include a variety of search filters, enabling users to refine their choices based on guest ratings, price, amenities, and more. Future developments may see the integration of Vrbo rental options, adding even more variety to users’ travel accommodations.

In addition to hotel bookings, Uber introduced a new function called Travel Mode, designed to enhance the experience of exploring urban environments. This mode offers personalised recommendations for local attractions, popular dining spots, and streamlined navigation for airports. Moreover, it enables users to make dining reservations through OpenTable, allowing for a seamless integration of transportation and culinary experiences.

An additional service unveiled is called Eats for the Way, which enables passengers to order food or beverages during their rides. Available exclusively on Uber Black and Uber Black SUV rides, this function allows drivers to pick up food orders on their route. Initially rolled out in cities such as Los Angeles and San Francisco, this feature aims to make commuting even more convenient for those who wish to enjoy a snack or drink without delay.
Uber is also venturing into the realm of personal shopping with its new Shop For Me service. This innovative feature allows users to request items from virtually any store, even those not affiliated with the Uber app. Shoppers can search for local stores, submit descriptions of desired items, and provide additional notes or images. This service is expected to launch next month in cities like Tampa and Dallas, with more locations anticipated to follow.
To further streamline the user experience, Uber is making enhancements to its search functionalities. A redesigned destination search bar will allow users to enter various types of queries – from places to food and items. For those who prefer a hands-free approach, Uber is introducing Voice Rides, a feature that permits users to book trips through conversation. This advancement aims to understand users’ preferences more effectively, making the entire process smoother and more intuitive.
In a nod to technological innovation, Uber announced another collaboration with Joby Aviation, which promises to launch Uber Air powered by Joby later this year. The service is set to begin in Dubai and will introduce an aerial transport system featuring electric air taxis, making it possible for users to book air travel directly through the Uber app.
These upcoming features reflect Uber’s ambition to reposition itself not just as a ridesharing service but as a comprehensive travel companion. As the company expands its offerings and partnerships, users can look forward to new experiences designed to meet a wide array of needs, whether for travel, dining, or shopping.
With these changes on the horizon, Uber aims to provide a more cohesive ecosystem that integrates various aspects of daily life into a single platform. As they prepare to roll out these features, the company is poised to redefine convenience in urban living. The full impact of these services remains to be seen, but early indicators suggest a significant shift in how users interact with the platform.
