Country music artist Kylie Morgan has announced her engagement to Alek Halverson, a radio personality and artist manager. The couple celebrated this milestone on 21 April during a surprise proposal in Nashville, which was made all the more special with the help of Halverson’s two-year-old daughter, Ava.

In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, Morgan described her response to the proposal as the “easiest yes” she has ever given. Halverson orchestrated a heartfelt surprise by arranging a faux content day at Createurs Nashville, ensuring Morgan was camera-ready and unsuspecting. During this ruse, Ava made a special appearance, making the moment even more poignant.
Recalling the proposal, Morgan shared her emotions, noting how she felt a rush of joy when she realised what was happening. With Ava dressed in a charming white and denim ruffled dress and tiny cowboy boots, she approached her with the ring box, followed closely by her father. Halverson then knelt down and asked Morgan to marry both him and Ava, a moment she described as transformative.
Morgan expressed her surprise at the proposal, despite having previously discussed the possibility of engagement with Halverson. “The second I saw Ava come around the corner holding the ring box, I completely lost it,” she said, adding that it was an intimate and incredibly overwhelming experience. The engagement ring, a stunning 4.5-carat radiant-cut diamond crafted by Ayka Jewelers, was also particularly significant for Morgan, who described it as her “literal dream ring”.
The couple initially crossed paths in Seattle during Morgan’s first radio tour in 2019, where she was opening for Kip Moore. In a light-hearted recollection, Halverson noted that their first encounter included an axe-throwing activity, a match for their vibrant personalities. Although they did not begin dating until recently, they reconnected at another show a little over a year ago, at a time when both were navigating challenging personal circumstances.
Morgan explained that their relationship blossomed during this difficult period, allowing them to support each other and heal together. After going through separated relationships, including her split from former husband Jay Allen in October 2022, Morgan found a deep connection with Halverson that redefined her understanding of love.
As they turn their focus towards planning their wedding, Morgan indicated that they envision a modest celebration with around 100 guests. She expressed that Key West might serve as the ideal backdrop, as it holds significance for both of them as a beloved destination.
