During the panel, Park candidly revealed that the experience was both amusing and unforgettable. “Oh my gosh. It was actually quite interesting because we always say that so much of our characters are inspired by our own friendship,” Park explained, noting that although they’ve never had a fight akin to what viewers see on screen, the scene encapsulated a pivotal moment in their relationship.
Exploring the dynamics of their characters, Park explained how the scripted disagreement allowed both actresses to delve deeper into their roles. “We communicate very well,” she said. “We were almost resistant to that storyline and tiff between them, but we came to appreciate it, as these kinds of conflicts can strengthen relationships.”
About the logistics of the pastry-laden fight, Park described the challenge of accurately tossing croissants. “Croissants are very light, so in order to aim it properly, I really had to chuck it hard,” she noted, recalling that the take featured in the show showed her making a significant effort. She humorously recounted, “I think on that take, I really chucked it at her. I will never forget the imprint of croissant crumbs on her face!”
In a display of camaraderie, the actresses would check in on each other between takes. “And to do that to her friend — we had to stop,” Park shared. “I was like, ‘Are you okay?’” This sense of care enhanced the playful nature of their scene, but it wasn’t the only noteworthy aspect of the day’s filming.
The two actresses also had the unique experience of filming the climactic scene with their parents present on set in Paris for the very first time. “That was already fun. We were laughing so hard,” Park recalled. She described how the vibrant environment of Paris added to the energy of the shoot. “We were filming along a river, with boats passing by shouting our names – that turned out to be a humorous distraction that actually helped us,” she remarked.
In fact, the joyous atmosphere of the day transcended the on-screen drama. “It felt like we were stepping into our characters, rather than just bringing ourselves into it,” Park noted. Their laughter and excitement not only contributed to their performances but also created a memorable filming experience.
Collins, reflecting on her experiences with Park during the show’s fifth season, shared that one particular scene had her in tears from laughter. “One of my most fun moments was shooting the scene with Ashley where we have our face masks on, and we couldn’t stop laughing,” Collins recalled. She emphasised how much fun their working relationship has become, often finding humour and joy in their interactions.
Looking ahead, *Emily in Paris* has already been renewed for a sixth season, following the success of the fifth instalment. Production is scheduled to commence in May, with the cast set to film in picturesque locales including Greece and Monaco.
