**Investigation Underway After Discovery of Children’s Remains in Tennessee**

Authorities in Tennessee are conducting a thorough investigation following the discovery of the remains of three children in a vacant field in Memphis. The Memphis Police Department (MPD) confirmed that these unidentified individuals are believed to be aged between three and seven years old. The case, which has raised significant concerns within the community, is expected to reveal more information as investigations continue.

Memphis Police Chief C.J. Davis held a press conference to discuss the findings, stating, “Somebody knows where these children have come from.” She emphasised the urgency for anyone with pertinent information to come forward to assist in the ongoing inquiry.

The investigation was initiated on March 8 after a report from a local resident who noticed what appeared to be a human skull near the wooded area in the 3400 block of Ridge Meadow Parkway. Officers dispatched to the scene confirmed the discovery of the skull but decided to return the following day for a more extensive search, as visibility was poor at the time of the initial report.

The MPD then enlisted K-9 cadaver dogs to aid in the search, resulting in alerts around a drainage pipe, which further led officers to suspect the presence of additional remains. This was confirmed when cameras were utilised to inspect the drainage system on March 16, leading to the discovery of another skull on April 1.

As the investigation progressed, a total of 14 additional bones were recovered, all of which were consistent with being human remains, according to Chief Davis. She noted, “What you’re seeing today is a continuation of those efforts,” highlighting the extensive search that has been carried out since the first report.

Approximately 170 individuals, including personnel from the Shelby County Medical Examiner’s Office and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, were involved in the recovery operations, as well as support from federal partners and the Memphis Fire Department. This sizeable collaborative effort underscores the seriousness with which authorities are approaching the case.

At this stage, it remains unclear how long the remains had been in the area. Chief Davis indicated that it is believed the remains might have been at the Ridge Meadow Parkway location for “a few years.” This revelation has understandably raised alarm within the local community, prompting officials to reassure residents of their safety.

Davis reassured the public during her address, stating, “We do not believe there is any immediate danger to the public.” She confirmed that the investigation is being conducted with methodical caution, maintaining a focus on gathering evidence and respecting the sensitive nature of the case. The police chief expressed the importance of the community’s support, requesting that anyone with pertinent information reach out.
