Alan Osmond, the eldest member of the renowned musical family The Osmonds, passed away on 20 April 2024 at the age of 76. He was known not only for his considerable contributions to the music industry but also as a devoted husband and father. Alan first met Suzanne Pinegar during a basketball game at Brigham Young University (BYU). Their initial encounter struck a chord, leading to a whirlwind romance that culminated in their marriage on 16 July 1974 in the Provo Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Soon after, the newlyweds embarked on a journey together that saw Alan perform with his brothers, establishing a harmonious life amidst the busy world of show business.
The couple welcomed eight sons—Michael, Nathan, Douglas, David, Scott, Jon, Alex, and Tyler—each of whom has now forged their own paths in life and, as reported, collectively enjoy being grandparents to 30 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Alan’s son, Nathan, humorously remarked in a January 2024 interview that family gatherings have grown so large they might require “stadium rental.”

Their engagement is often described as a fairytale. During their first date, which included a motorcycle ride up Y Mountain, Alan realised he had found his soulmate. Reflecting on her marriage at a Chamber of Commerce event in 2021, Suzanne jokingly remarked that she had little idea of what life as Alan’s wife would entail, but declared, “I wouldn’t change a thing.”
Collaborating as a couple, the Osmonds also ventured into writing. They authored several children’s books, including *If the Shoe Fits* and *Twice Upon a Time Tales*, showcasing their commitment to education and storytelling, which further bonded their family.
