**Saige Mosingo: Cancer Survivor and Aspirant Victoria’s Secret Angel Inspires Women Everywhere**

Saige Mosingo, a 27-year-old from Michigan, has captured the attention of social media users worldwide with her inspiring audition tape for Victoria’s Secret. Her journey, marked by resilience and hope, encourages women to embrace their scars and share their personal stories.

As a child, Mosingo dreamed of becoming a Victoria’s Secret Angel, often watching runway shows and admiring the confident women who graced them. However, this dream was profoundly challenged when she was diagnosed with a malignant Phyllodes tumour at the age of 13. Initially thought to be a benign growth, the diagnosis led to a series of surgeries, including a mastectomy, which drastically altered her body and self-image.
Phyllodes tumours are rare, comprising less than 1% of all breast tumours and are generally diagnosed in women over 40. Unlike more common types of breast cancer, they arise from the connective tissue rather than the milk ducts, displaying unique characteristics that differentiate them from invasive ductal carcinoma.
In the years that followed her diagnosis, Mosingo faced significant struggles with her self-esteem during her formative school years. She grappled with bullying and the challenge of adjusting to her new body. “Navigating middle school was exceptionally difficult,” she shared, reflecting on her experience. “I had to relearn what being confident meant while dealing with a body that felt unfamiliar.”
Despite her struggles, Mosingo’s relationship with her body began to improve over time. She described a pivotal moment at the age of 25 when she started to embrace her scars, recognising them as symbols of strength rather than marks of shame. “My scars are big and bold,” she noted. “Now, they represent beauty and resilience.”
This renewed sense of self has empowered Mosingo to pursue her long-held aspiration of becoming a model. When Victoria’s Secret announced its casting call for the Fashion Show 2026, she saw it as an opportunity not just for herself but for those who relate to her story. “I wanted to approach this casting as a cancer survivor first and a model second,” she emphasised.
While preparing her audition tape, Mosingo aimed to convey a message of hope to other women and girls facing similar challenges. She uploaded her audition to TikTok, hoping to inspire a small circle of friends, yet was taken aback when the video quickly garnered over 500,000 views. The overwhelming support and encouragement she received left her in tears.
“Women were opening up about their own cancer journeys, and many said my story helped them feel more beautiful and confident,” Mosingo stated. This feedback underscored her desire to help others, asserting, “I wanted women to know that they are not alone.”
Victoria’s Secret also acknowledged her efforts, commenting on her post with admiration. Mosingo expressed her gratitude for their recognition, hoping to showcase her journey on their iconic runway one day.
For Mosingo, the viral success of her audition was a significant milestone, representing more than mere online views. “This felt like the first step toward making a difference for breast cancer survivors,” she said passionately. “I have a second chance at life, and I intend to use my voice for those who can’t.”
Her mission is clear: to challenge traditional beauty standards and redefine representation in the modelling industry. “Scars deserve to be seen as beautiful too,” she asserted, emphasising her goal of expanding the narrative around beauty.
Reflecting on the prospect of walking down the Victoria’s Secret runway, she imagined the emotional significance it would have for her journey. “To celebrate something I’ve tried to hide for so long would be incredibly powerful,” she mused.
Mosingo is determined not to halt her advocacy. “I want to continue growing my platform and spreading positivity,” she declared. Her message is one of solidarity: “You are never alone. As long as I am here, you have a friend in me.”
As Saige Mosingo embarks on this transformative path in her life, she remains focused on her goal of inspiring others, proving that even amidst hardship, there is strength, beauty, and a supportive community waiting to be formed.
