The dynamic between Lawrence and Rogers was typical of many siblings, filled with the playful teasing that usually accompanies such relationships. Rogers admits, “I was the older sister that always picked on the younger brother.” Their upbringing was relatively stable, shaped by the warmth of a loving family, friends, and the occasional sibling squabble. However, everything changed when Lawrence turned 16 and began grappling with what he describes as an “addiction tendency.”

Over the next two decades, Lawrence faced the challenging battle of substance dependency, entering rehab five times in a bid to reclaim his life. His sister, Jaye, acknowledges the strain that Lawrence’s struggles placed on their family. Despite their bond weakening during these years, the pair recently began reconnecting. Lawrence would visit Rogers to help with home repairs and they gradually rekindled their relationship.

The turning point came when Lawrence relapsed and became embroiled in a fight that resulted in a broken neck. This incident left him hospitalised and placed on a ventilator, where he teetered on the brink of life and death. As he faced this dire situation, Rogers, who was in her mid-30s with a family of her own, felt compelled to act. “I decided, with the help of my husband, that I was gonna just drop my life, quit my job and move back home to take care of my brother,” she revealed.
The siblings have since made their father’s house their home, where they now share daily routines and responsibilities. Every morning, Rogers starts her day with a walk before embarking on a two-hour process of assisting Lawrence, who relies on a wheelchair for mobility. His daily schedule is filled with medical appointments, involving a range of specialists including occupational therapists and spinal teams.
Despite the challenges of their circumstances, the siblings found a creative outlet together on social media. They began posting videos on TikTok under the handle “Rollio & Juliet,” which have since gathered an impressive following of nearly 200,000 fans. Rogers recognised the potential to share their story while Lawrence was still recovering in intensive rehab. “I said, ‘Dude, your story is so powerful, and if this is the reason why you stay sober, you will be an inspiration to so many,’” she recalled.
Their relatable content, highlighting the reality of life in a wheelchair and infused with Lawrence’s dark humour, resonated strongly with their audience. The response has been overwhelmingly positive, with many followers sharing their own experiences of overcoming similar challenges. “It’s just amazing to see what a little bit of happiness we bring people,” Lawrence said of the feedback they receive.
Looking ahead, the siblings understand that their current living situation can’t last indefinitely. Rogers is determined to foster Lawrence’s independence as much as possible before transitioning back to her own life, which includes a husband and two young daughters. “The goal is to get him as independent as possible before I leave,” she explained, acknowledging the gradual shift in responsibilities as they prepare for this next step.
Though the future remains uncertain, both Rogers and Lawrence express hope for what lies ahead. Lawrence remains resolute, sharing, “God gave me several chances, literally, and he’s still kept me around for a reason.” This sense of purpose fuels their journey as they navigate the complexities of recovery and the transformation of their sibling relationship.
As they continue their journey together, Lawrence and Rogers serve as powerful reminders of resilience and the importance of support. With a blend of strength, humour, and determination, they are forging a new path, one that not only consolidates their bond but also inspires countless others who resonate with their narrative.
