A couple’s wedding on March 21 at the luxurious Hotel del Coronado in Coronado, California, was particularly memorable, as it also marked a special milestone in their lives — the tenth birthday of their beloved pitbull, Buddy. For Danielle, 29, and Jose Estrada, 34, the decision to include Buddy in their wedding celebrations added a unique touch to their special day.

In a delightful twist, Buddy fulfilled the role of ring bearer, confidently donning a small tuxedo as he proudly walked down the aisle. “He had a smile on his face the entire day. It was so cute,” Danielle expressed in a recent interview, reflecting on the joyful atmosphere of the occasion.
The Estradas had not originally intended to tie the knot on Buddy’s birthday; rather, the date fortuitously aligned with their plans. However, recognising the significance of having Buddy present, they decided it was only fitting that their furry companion be part of their matrimonial ceremony from the start. “Buddy has been with us since he was a pup basically. He’s my best friend,” Jose shared, emphasising the importance of Buddy’s presence in their daily lives.
Danielle adopted Buddy when he was about six months old, and Jose has been a part of Buddy’s life ever since. The close bond between the dog and his owners was evident throughout the day. Jose, who works from home, described Buddy as his “shadow,” stating that they spend nearly every waking hour together. On the wedding morning, Buddy was calm and relaxed, “sunbathing” near Danielle as she prepared. The precious moment when the couple first saw each other included Buddy looking on, dressed for the occasion.
During the ceremony, Buddy played a pivotal role, not only delivering the rings but also soaking in the atmosphere from his vantage point on the grass in front of the guests. “Everyone knows that Buddy’s not only a chill dog but is super important to us,” Jose noted, highlighting the warm reaction from the attendees when Buddy made his special entrance. His unexpected contribution as the ring bearer elicited cheers and laughter from the crowd, as the couple had kept this surprise under wraps.
Although the couple had not initially planned for Buddy to stay for the entirety of the reception, the accommodating nature of the venue allowed the calm canine to enjoy the evening festivities. The on-site chef even surprised Buddy with a birthday steak, creating a memorable moment for the family. “He was just running around and having fun with all the kids, eating all their French fries,” Jose recalled, laughing as he recounted Buddy’s antics.
In a particularly endearing gesture, a mariachi band performed a birthday song for Buddy, further celebrating the occasion. By the end of the event, Buddy was exhausted from the excitement and happily dozed off on a couch, a spot he cherishes. “He had the absolute best time, for sure,” Jose reflected, pleased to have included Buddy in such a significant day of their lives.
