A man from Narvon, Pennsylvania, has been arrested after a botched attempt to create a pipe bomb for entertaining guests resulted in an accidental explosion, injuring himself in the process. Travis Peachey, aged 51, reportedly made a pipe bomb out of PVC piping, filling it with six ounces of black powder, and utilised a motorcycle switch to control the blast. According to authorities, Peachey intended to impress guests with his makeshift device, but things took a drastic turn when he learned that they would not be coming after all. In a misguided attempt to disarm the bomb, he dropped it in his shed, leading to the explosion.
At the time of the incident, Peachey’s wife and two children were in the house but thankfully were not injured in the blast. Following the explosion, Mrs Peachey told responders that her husband had rushed inside, exclaiming he needed medical assistance.
Emergency services arrived at the scene where they evaluated Peachey’s injuries. Reports indicate he suffered both facial and eye injuries and required medical treatment to remove shrapnel embedded in his head.
