As of 13 April, the new rewards programme aims to foster deeper engagement with its members in the United States and Canada (excluding Quebec). The fast-casual restaurant chain seeks to reinforce customer loyalty by adding fresh incentives, while also retaining popular existing features. The initiative looks to create a more seamless experience for its users, ensuring that rewards are both accessible and appealing.

One of the standout features is the introductory reward for new members, who will enjoy complimentary Chips and Guacamole when they make a purchase of five dollars or more. This immediate reward can be claimed within seven days of joining, either through a participating restaurant location or on the Chipotle mobile app and website. This gesture aims to attract new customers while encouraging initial engagement.
The relaunch also brings back “Freepotle,” a recurring promotion that allows members to receive free food on a regular basis. Chipotle intends to roll out monthly “bonus reward drops,” which members will need to redeem following a minimum purchase. This new feature is designed to provide continual value to members, particularly for those who are active throughout the year.
In a move that enhances the celebratory experience for members, Chipotle now allows customers to select their birthday reward. Members can choose from options such as guacamole, queso, chips or a fountain drink and will have an extended 30-day period to redeem this offer, thereby ensuring flexibility in how they mark their special day.
The “Rewards Exchange” aspect of the programme has also seen exciting updates. Users can now benefit from lower point thresholds to acquire various menu items. New options available for redemption include significant discounts on entrées, customised group orders, and bundled meal deals. This addition aims to increase the value returned to members and foster the sharing of meals among friends and family.
The updated loyalty programme features “always-on Extra offers,” which are interactive challenges available through the app. Such offers allow customers to earn additional points and badges, thus encouraging ongoing engagement with the brand. Furthermore, the points expiration period has now been extended from six months to an entire year, provided at least one qualifying purchase is made, making it easier for members to accumulate and use their points.
Curt Garner, Chipotle’s President and Chief Strategy and Technology Officer, underscored the company’s commitment to delivering substantial value to its members. “’Rewards on Repeat’ provides more rewards to all members, more frequently, while enhancing existing benefits,” he explained. Garner noted that the updates to the rewards system have been informed by evolving customer preferences, particularly among a younger demographic that prioritises loyalty programmes in their dining decisions.
The redesigned app, which now features a more intuitive interface, further supports these enhancements by consolidating all rewards information into one accessible location. Users will have improved visibility of their points balances and the progress they need to redeem various offers. The introduction of advanced gamification features aims to create a more engaging user experience, driving personalized interactions as customers navigate the rewards landscape.
Chipotle also plans to integrate the rewards programme more visibly within its restaurants. The in-store experience will be aligned with marketing efforts to promote new member sign-ups, assisting in the growth of an already sizeable community that boasts over 21 million active members.
For those looking to take part in Chipotle’s revamped rewards initiative, they can sign up via the Chipotle website or through the mobile app. With the aim of elevating customer loyalty and engaging more fully with its audience, Chipotle’s new rewards programme presents an exciting opportunity for both the brand and its customers.
