Taylor Selfridge, known for her appearance on the reality series ‘Teen Mom’, has recently shared a heartfelt update regarding her three-year-old daughter, Maya. The toddler, who was born with a congenital heart defect known as tricuspid atresia, has been hospitalised for the past 16 days, prompting widespread concern from fans and followers.

Maya, born in June 2022, suffers from tricuspid atresia, a condition where the tricuspid valve does not form properly, resulting in complications that often require surgical intervention. The Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) notes that this condition can lead to serious health issues if not treated effectively.

After a noticeable absence from her usual social media posts, Selfridge felt compelled to update her followers on the situation. Alongside a touching photograph of her and Maya in the hospital, she wrote, “16 days in the hospital… this is the longest stay/most stressful one we’ve ever had, and that’s saying a lot. She’s getting much better hoping to get out of here soon 🤍 it’s a long story and I’ll give you guys an update when we get back home.”
In a further video update, Selfridge reassured her supporters that Maya was in a stable condition, stating that she was “doing good” and “doing so much better.” It was a relief for Selfridge when Maya was taken off oxygen support and was finally able to leave her hospital room. She expressed joy as she invited her daughter to see puppies, showcasing a glimpse of their spirits lifting.
The following day, Selfridge shared another image of herself alongside Maya, accompanied by videos of her pushing the toddler in a stroller, which served as a bright moment during a challenging time. “We are moving and grooving,” Selfridge exclaimed, indicating a sense of normalcy returning to their lives despite the ongoing situation.
Maya’s medical journey has included multiple surgeries, the most significant being an open-heart procedure performed in October 2025. On that occasion, the family faced a challenging 13-day hospital stay. Following the surgery, Selfridge took to Instagram to express her relief, stating, “After 13 days in the hospital we are home! ❤️🩹 Maya had her final open-heart surgery called the Fontan. Before the Fontan, her blood was mixing oxygenated blood and non-oxygenated blood, which caused her to have low oxygen to her lungs.”
In addition to Maya, Selfridge shares another daughter, Mila Mae, with Cory Wharton, who also participated in ‘Teen Mom’. Wharton is also a father to a daughter named Ryder from a previous relationship with Cheyenne Floyd. The couple, who navigate the complexities of parenthood together, have garnered support and well-wishes from fans as they face the challenges of caring for a child with serious health issues.
Despite the considerable stresses that arise from caring for a child with a congenital condition, Selfridge has remained open about her experiences, allowing her followers a candid look into the emotional toll of such a journey. The updates on Maya’s health not only reflect the personal struggles of the family but also highlight the resilience and determination of both mother and daughter.
As Selfridge continues to navigate this difficult chapter, her transparency has resonated with many, inspiring those who are also dealing with complex health challenges. For now, the family is looking forward to a brighter future, hopeful for Maya’s continued recovery and the joyful moments that lie ahead.
