A birthday celebration for influencer Zac Zavala at Los Globos Nightclub in California was abruptly interrupted by a false emergency call, commonly known as “swatting”. The incident occurred on Sunday, April 5th, prompting a quick response from the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD).

Hundreds of patrons were evacuated from the nightclub, located near the bustling intersection of Silver Lake and Sunset Boulevards, after a report suggested that a bomb was present within the premises. The LAPD confirmed that their officers from the Rampart Division responded to the alarming call regarding suspicious devices on the site.

Upon arriving at the venue, law enforcement officials conducted a swift evacuation, ensuring that the area surrounding the nightclub was clear of individuals. Following the evacuation, a meticulous search of the building was carried out, allowing police to confirm that no evidence of any explosive devices existed.
Authorities completed a report regarding the incident, coding it under the violation of 148.3(a) PC, which pertains to false reports of emergencies. Despite the seriousness of the situation, no arrests were made, and thus far, there is no public description of a potential suspect linked to the call.
While the law enforcement statement did not indicate whether any individuals were harmed during the evacuation, reports from local news sources like KTLA revealed that at least one person received paramedic treatment after reportedly sustaining an eye injury stemming from a physical altercation.
Zavala, known online as Zavalahimself, was celebrating his 22nd birthday during the tumultuous event. The influencer, who actively engages with his followers on platforms including Instagram and Kick, shared post-celebration reflections on social media, expressing gratitude for the birthday wishes he received, despite the unexpected turn of events that marred the festivities.
This recent swatting incident follows a similar occurrence less than a month prior when Zavala was the target of another hoax while streaming at The Shops at Santa Anita. On March 11, police received a distressing call from someone claiming to be armed and issuing threats, which coincided with Zavala’s live stream featuring a young fan.
The Arcadia Police Department, responding to the threat, initiated a lockdown at the mall to ensure the safety of shoppers while conducting systematic searches of the facility. Zavala later recounted the event, stating that the presence of heavily armed police left him frightened, illustrating the serious nature of swatting incidents.
Ultimately, much like the recent nightclub incident, authorities concluded that no suspects could be found, and injury reports were minimal, leading to the belief that the threat in the shopping centre was also likely a hoax.
The disturbing trend of swatting is becoming an increasingly prevalent issue, particularly within the influencer community. Misuse of emergency services poses severe risks not only to the targets of such threats but also to the public, as resources are diverted from genuine emergencies.
As of now, Zavala has not publicly commented regarding the nightclub incident, and it remains to be seen what impact these two incidents may have on his popularity and public engagements. Both the LAPD and other law enforcement agencies are urging the public to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity, reinforcing the seriousness of false emergency calls.
In light of this incident, the community is left to navigate the implications and concerns surrounding swatting, as many hope for stricter penalties for those who engage in this harmful behaviour.
