Describing the day, Darnold and Hoofnagle expressed it was “the best night with all of our favourite people.” They noted that the celebration was lively and filled with joyous moments, surrounded by friends, family, and loved ones from various stages of their lives. The festivities kicked off with a “California Coastal Citrus Welcome Party” and concluded with a “Limoncello Farewell Brunch.”
As the ceremony commenced, Katie Hoofnagle graced the aisle in a stunning Wtoo by Watters wedding gown, adorned with intricate lace. Accompanied by live string musicians performing Noah Kahan’s “Forever”, she walked down a pathway adorned with white flowers and lush greenery. Hoofnagle shared her delightful personal connection to the dress, explaining that she had frequently admired the brand’s collection during her time working at Anthropologie in college.
Sam Darnold complemented his bride perfectly in a custom Tom Ford suit. As the night progressed, he swapped his classic black jacket for a blue velvet version, adding a touch of flair to the festivities. Hoofnagle also made a stylish change, donning a second outfit: a charming A-line mini dress embellished with delicate beading and floral lace from Rosie Etienne Bridal, which she paired with striking Prada platform heels.

Planning for the wedding was executed seamlessly under the guidance of Christine Garrison, owner of CMG Weddings & Events. Hoofnagle praised her ability to bring their vision to life, allowing the couple to concentrate on Darnold’s demanding football schedule without the added stress of wedding preparations.
The couple’s journey began at a bar in Charlotte, North Carolina, where they were introduced by a mutual friend. Their romantic engagement occurred on July 5, 2025, in Dana Point, California, marking the beginning of a significant chapter in their lives together.
Currently, the newlyweds are enjoying a “minimoon” in Hawaii, celebrating their fresh union, before embarking on an extended honeymoon in Italy in June, following the conclusion of Darnold’s organised team activities. As they begin their married life, both are filled with excitement for what lies ahead.
