“Deadliest Catch” Star Todd Meadows’ Cause of Death Revealed

A tragic incident on the Bering Sea has claimed the life of Todd Meadows, a 25-year-old deckhand known for his appearance on the Discovery Channel’s series, *Deadliest Catch*. Meadows fell overboard while working aboard the Aleutian Lady fishing vessel, prompting a swift response from the United States Coast Guard.

The incident occurred on the evening of February 25, 2026, approximately 170 miles north of Dutch Harbour. According to a statement from Coast Guard representatives, the crew reported that Meadows had fallen overboard. Tragically, he was retrieved by crew members around ten minutes later but was unresponsive. Attempts at reviving him were unsuccessful, and the crew subsequently transported him back to Dutch Harbour. An investigation into the incident has been launched by the Coast Guard.

The Discovery Channel also expressed their condolences through a spokesperson who conveyed the network’s deep sadness over the tragic loss. The spokesperson stated that Meadows’ passing represents an immense loss not only to his family and friends but also to the wider fishing community.

The fundraising effort described him as a devoted father, son, brother, and friend who had a profound impact on those around him. As of early April, the campaign had gathered nearly £57,000, reflecting the community’s support for his family in this challenging time.

In 2018, former captain Blake Painter was found deceased in his home, revealing a somber trend amongst those involved in the high-stakes world of crab fishing.
