A 33-year-old Massachusetts woman, Alyssa Partsch, has been sentenced to a prison term of 15 to 20 years for the manslaughter of 21-year-old Jazreanna Sheppard. The tragic incident occurred following a dispute that escalated over social media, culminating in a fatal stabbing outside the Park Street MBTA station in Boston.

Partsch’s guilty plea to the charge was announced by the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office, revealing the serious nature of her actions linked to the deadly encounter that unfolded on July 20, 2023, in the evening. As part of the court proceedings, Partsch was set to go to trial before opting to plead guilty.
Superior Court Judge Mary Ames condemned Partsch’s behaviour, describing the act as senseless. She stated, “It’s the senselessness of this act, the senselessness of the act that you committed, Ms. Partsch.” The judge also highlighted the devastating impact on Sheppard’s family, noting that a child would grow up without his mother, relying solely on memories preserved by family and friends.
The conflict between Partsch and Sheppard reportedly began long before the physical confrontation and included aggressive interactions over social media. Prosecutors alleged that Partsch had previously threatened Sheppard online and sought to provoke her into a fight. On the evening of the incident, while Sheppard and a friend were leaving Boston Common park, they crossed paths with Partsch, who allegedly approached them.
As they made their way towards the Park Street subway pavilion just after 11:30 PM, Partsch is believed to have confronted Sheppard with a knife. Surveillance footage captured the two women engaged in a violent struggle, during which Partsch repeatedly stabbed Sheppard in several areas of her body, including the face and torso.
Following the attack, Partsch fled the scene. Tragically, Sheppard was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to her injuries shortly thereafter. Authorities apprehended Partsch several months later, on November 4, 2023, capturing her during a police operation.
