The film, directed by Daniel Goldhaber, revolves around the lives of two content moderators portrayed by Ferreira and Charli XCX. While Ferreira plays Margot, a character with a distinct viewpoint, Charli takes on the role of Gabby, who has a morbid curiosity that often conflicts with her co-worker’s perspective. Speaking to *People* magazine, Ferreira expressed how meaningful it was to collaborate with Charli, noting that the pair have shared a personal friendship for years. “I love Charli so much. We’ve been friends for a very long time,” Ferreira said, reflecting on her admiration for Charli’s music, particularly her debut album *True Romance*, as well as a past appearance on Charli’s podcast, *Best Song Ever*.
Ferreira shared her thoughts on transitioning from a fan attending Charli’s concerts to sharing the screen with her. “It was really cool to work with a friend who I admire,” she remarked. “I’m used to going to her concerts with my friends, and now she’s stepping into the film world for the first time.”
Filming took place in 2023, close to the release of Charli XCX’s highly anticipated project, *Brat*, which Ferreira described as a significant moment for the pop artist. According to Ferreira, working with Charli at such a pivotal time was an impressive experience. “It was really cool to see such a huge pop star at the precipice of this moment for her,” she said, highlighting Charli’s long-standing talent that is finally receiving the recognition it deserves.

Daniel Goldhaber recalled that Charli was initially attracted to the movie because she was a fan of his earlier work, particularly his 2018 film, *Cam*. “She reached out and was like, ‘Hey, can I be in *Faces of Death*?’ I was thrilled; we had a role that hadn’t been cast yet,” Goldhaber shared.
Charli’s role is significant, as she had a substantial influence on the character of Gabby. From her wardrobe choices to her accent, Charli played an active role in shaping her character. Goldhaber mentioned, “Charli came in with a very specific vision for her wardrobe. She wanted to channel Marla Singer from *Fight Club* for her character. I appreciated her input and creativity throughout the process.”
Beyond *Faces of Death*, Charli has various projects in the pipeline, including appearances in *The Gallerist*, *100 Nights of Hero*, and several other titles. Ferreira also has an exciting project lined up for release in April, which adds to her growing presence in the film industry.
