Husky Finds Home After Wandering the Desert Alone, New Owner Hopes to Reunite Dog with His Original Family

A husky dog, now named Eclipse, has found a new home in Tucson after being discovered alone in the desert, having likely been abandoned by his owners due to deportation. Jaime Simpson, the woman who took the dog in, has expressed her heartache over the circumstances that may have led to the pet’s isolation.

Simpson stumbled upon the husky while walking in the desert and initially left the canine alone, assuming it might be someone’s pet. “We thought maybe he belonged to somebody, so we didn’t want to just take him or do anything,” she recounted. However, the husky soon took a liking to her, following her closely, which led Simpson to reconsider her decision.

The dog guided Simpson to a nearby neighbourhood in search of answers. After speaking to locals, she learned that Eclipse’s original family had been at risk of deportation, and they had not been seen in the area for several weeks. This left Simpson and the neighbourhood residents concerned for the husky’s wellbeing and current situation.

“It just makes me really sad that they had no closure, that goodbye, to keep their dog next to them during that hard time,” said Simpson, voicing her empathy for both the dog and its previous owners. She noted an increasing number of similar stories, reflecting a broader issue in the community which many find distressing.

The plight of Eclipse comes against the backdrop of heightened immigration enforcement and policies that have resulted in mass deportations in recent years. This has left many families fractured and pets like Eclipse abandoned, a heartbreaking consequence of a larger national crisis.

Since taking him in, Simpson has ensured that Eclipse receives proper care, including food, water, and affection in her family home. She has developed a strong bond with the husky, witnessing his personality flourish now that he is safe. Despite this, there remains a yearning in Simpson’s heart for Eclipse to be reunited with his rightful family.

“I hope so,” she commented on the possibility of finding Eclipse’s family. “I’d be happy to do that.” Simpson’s generosity and compassion serve as a beacon of hope, illustrating the profound connection between humans and animals, especially in times of distress.

As she navigates this journey, Simpson continues to reach out in hopes of locating Eclipse’s original owners, determined to bring some semblance of closure and comfort to both the dog and his past family.
