In a recent edition of PEOPLE magazine, Lauren Conrad, the former reality television star, candidly discusses the keys to her enduring eleven-year marriage with guitarist William Tell. Their relationship, characterised by strong communication and mutual respect, has flourished since they began dating in 2012.

Conrad, who is best known for her role in the iconic MTV series *Laguna Beach*, reflects on the early days of their relationship. She recalls an incident where a light-hearted joke led to a deeper conversation about respect. “I remember really early when we were dating, I joked and called him a name,” she shares. “He responded, saying, ‘I don’t name-call. I’m never going to call you a name. Let’s not do that.’ It made me realise, ‘Oh, okay. We’re adults.’”
The couple have built a strong foundation over the years, learning how to navigate disagreements effectively. “We had to learn how the other communicated, and it took time,” Conrad notes. “Ultimately, it’s a fun, easy relationship. There will always be challenges, but being able to sit down and discuss matters calmly makes all the difference.” She contrasts this with less harmonious experiences in past relationships, emphasising the positive changes they have implemented since.
William Tell, 46, is not only a musician known for his time as the guitarist for the band Something Corporate but also a legal professional. The two first crossed paths during a concert when Conrad was just 16 years old. They were eventually introduced on Valentine’s Day by mutual friends in 2012. “I realised we had met because I Googled him,” Conrad admits. “I thought he was super cute. My husband’s a smoke show!”
Their romantic journey progressed rapidly, leading to engagement just a year and a half after they began dating. After marrying in September 2014, they welcomed their first child, Liam, in 2017, followed by their second son, Charlie, in 2019. Reflecting on their decision to start a family, Conrad expresses full confidence in Tell’s parenting abilities, saying, “I knew he’d be a good dad.” She praises Tell as an involved parent, noting, “He does funny voices when he reads stories and coaches every team they’re on. It’s been really fun to parent together.”
Four years ago, the family relocated back to Laguna Beach, where Conrad grew up, after spending much of her adult life in the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles. “Nobody cares who I am here,” she remarks, highlighting the significant change in her lifestyle. The former reality star, who has transitioned into running her clothing line in partnership with Kohl’s, relishes the opportunity to live her life for herself after years of being in the public eye.
While her children may not fully grasp their mother’s fame, Conrad indicates that they show little interest in her past celebrity status, saying, “I don’t think they really understand, and I don’t think they’re that interested, to be honest.” She adds, “Sometimes, I’ll say, ‘Oh, look! Mama did this.’ To which they respond, ‘Okay…’ But I believe they’ll understand it someday.”
Currently, Conrad is stepping back into the limelight with the release of *The Reunion: Laguna Beach*, a special celebrating the show’s 20th anniversary, set to stream on The Roku Channel on April 10. Despite the resurgence of public interest, she expresses a desire to retreat to her tranquil life after the excitement diminishes. “I feel very settled and happy,” she states. “I just feel grateful right now.”
