Jeremiah, a senior at Dauphin County Technical School, reacted immediately when his father fell on top of the heater. Drawing upon his training from a recent health class, he initiated cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) while his mother called for emergency assistance. Reflecting on his son’s quick response, Michael expressed pride and gratitude. “When I found out that Jeremiah had saved my life, as a father to a son, you couldn’t ask for a greater son,” he said. Following the ceremony, Jeremiah expressed mixed feelings about the recognition he received. “It makes me feel happy, but it makes me feel sort of weird at the same time… I don’t know how to explain it,” he remarked, highlighting the complexity of emotions that often accompany acts of heroism.
